What do you carry your fleet in?

By cjk1975, in X-Wing

I use a Feldherr case. For tournaments, I pull out one of the foam trays and fill it with the ships I need and all tokens and asteroids. Once wave 8. Is released, I will be starting on my second box.

Feldherr Maxi. They make foam trays specifically for X-Wing figures, tokens etc.!

For you guys using the Feldherr cases, how big is your collection? I would think it would get too bulky once you reach about 70 ships.

I am at just over 50 ships. I will be starting my second box once the wave 8 trays are released and will most likely use 1 for Rebels and 1 for Imperials and Scum. It is nice to have all my ships in one place including the epic ships, so I can keep them organized. Like I said previously, I can load everything I need into 1 tray to take to tournaments or for games at my LGS when I don't want to bring the whole case.

...plus the shiny new Trollworks tray I picked up for tourneys.

Uh... yeah, thanks! I knew I needed something but I had not found this... guess I'll have a shiny new one in a couple of weeks!

Came to about $40 after shipping costs. I picked up an extra card tray for it, but I probably didn't need it.

The ship tray is easily removable for other games, and I may try putting something together out of foamcore to carry Imperial Assault figures in it as well.

I use Feldherr foam. Got a Mini for single squads (tournaments), as well as a Medium and a Maxi if I want to bring more.

I store my models in KR multicases; when I go to a tournament I only actually take what I'm going to use, and transport everything I need in the starter set box.

This exactly. After much thought over a long period of time... I got frustrated hauling my entire collection to the store to play a pickup game or tournament. Instead, I take one or two lists with me in a small box to keep as little footprint as possible. To minimize setup time, I store everything on their stands...similar to this guy's stuff:

Washers in the bases...bases painted before that to cover the washers...magnetic adhesive strips to keep everything stable...

These are not the best of pictures (decade old camera), but you get the idea.
