Why AC over ATC on generic TIE/ADs with title, anyway?

So I'm wondering why Accuracy Corrector gets the nod over Advanced Targeting Computer on generic TIE/ADs? For one point your attack is basically 3, with one guaranteed to be a critical every time. Yes, you have to have a TL to do so, but it's not hard to get a TL early on, or change it if your TL'ed victim is out of arc.

Especially now that people know AC was fine in theory but fails to cut through a ace like Soontir's defenses, why just drop the Tempest Squadron entirely?

Well actually, it CAN be hard to get a TL when you are PS 2, and although you will likely get one eventually, it comes with an opportunity cost (sometimes you'll want to evade or focus to mitigate damage that's coming at ya).

Accuracy corrector means you can always evade and not worry about offense (well, if out of arc, you can grab a TL for future range 1 shots). Or else barrel roll to get a shot, block or out of an arc or whatever (and not have your damage potential compromised). So its far more flexible, and generally easier to keep your tempest alive.

But yeah, 2 hits don't cut it against a turtled Soontir (unless you block him.....which should be the goal if you want to kill him).

I don't think a lot of people are running Tempests anymore. The title seemed great at first, but then the advanced got overshadowed by the TIE/fo. For similar cost, it can often do whatever an advanced can do, only better (some of the named advanced pilots being stark exceptions, of course).

For example, Omega Squad w/ comm relay + juke = 22. Take a couple of these guys, and for 1 point more than a tempest, you get PS4, a better dial, similar durability, better action economy and similar damage output (sometimes worse, sometimes better depending on situation).

As mentioned above, AC lets you use you action completely for defense and no have to worry about modifying your attack dice. And two attack dice isn't much and yeah it won't punch through soontir but being able to always be guaranteed to get your maximum output on every attack is nothing to sneeze at. it's not the greatest thing ever but it's super annoying to play against because while your green dice will eventually fail you they are guaranteed to never whiff an attack.
