Question re: Stalker class Ambush skill

By JFresh, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hey guys,

I have a question regarding the Stalker class skill Ambush.

The card reads: "Exhaust this card when a monster enters an empty space within 3 spaces of a trap token to immediately perform an attack targeting that monster. After the attack is resolved, if the monster was not defeated, it may continue its activation."

So my question is this: is range a factor here? For example, if I leave a trap near a spawn point in any given quest, and the OL moves a monster a space and is within the 3 space limit (thus meeting the requirement for me to trigger ambush), while I am on the other side of the map, am I able to ignore range for this ability? Or, is it as I suspect, that because the card isn't addressing this, that I must make range as per the normal rules of a ranged attack. Also, if I were to use a melee weapon, would that work in the situation described above since Melee does not factor range in its attack?

Thanks for any clarification on this! :)

You still need LoS and range for performing the attack. So adjacency on case of Melee, or 2 spaces if Reach.

Thanks for the clarification!

Otherwise, the card would add something like: '...and perform an attack as if you occupied the trap tokens space.'

Or at the very least: '...and perform an attack, you do not need range or LoS to the target.'
