Passing a Nexu in a tight corridor

By Rumpus, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

Quick rules clarification: can a hero with a move of 4 pass through a Nexu in a two-space wide corridor by using a double move?

If the characters start adjacent, passing through two squares occupied by the Nexu would cost two move each, with one additional move to enter the square on the other side. Hence, passing the Nexu costs five move. Can a hero activate a double move and have eight points to work with, or does a hero have to end their first move in a legal end-spot, then activate their second move?

The Move action does not move the figure. A Move action gives movement points according to Speed and finishes instantly afterwards.

Spending movement points gained during the activation moves the figure.

A hero can perform two move actions to gain movement points, gain more movement points by suffering strain (upto 2 per activation, but only upto your endurance), then spend any number or all of them to move the figure.

So, for a figure with speed 4,

Move action gains 4mp.

Move gains 4mp.

Spend 5 movement points to cross the Nexu. Spend the rest like you see fit.

Or

A Move action gives a hero 4mp. Suffer 1 strain for +1mp. Move the figure across the Nexu for 5mp. Attack or Interact or Rest with the other action.

Also note that unless you are in the middle of a corridor, you sometimes do not need to enter two spaces that the Nexu occupies. Sometimes entering one is enough because you can move using diagonals.

You only need 4 points to pass through the nexu as the extra movement point is only once per figure.

The extra movement point costs are added per space entered , not per figure. (You don't enter figures, you enter spaces.)

You need 2 movement points to enter the first space occupied by a hostile figure. You need 2 movement points to enter a second space occupied by a hostile figure. You need 1 movement point to enter an empty space. (Assuming none are difficult terrain).

It makes no difference whether the spaces had different hostile figures or a single hostile figure.

The same applies to difficult terrain. You pay extra cost for each difficult terrain space you enter .

If you have a move of 4 speed, then you would not be able to pass the Nexu as you need 5 movement points. You don't add the movement points together to have a move of 8. They are classed as 2 moves of 4 to be taken 1 after the other.

TryerImp: That's not correct. Imperial Assault is not Descent. Please check out the rules.

The Move action does not move the figure. A Move action gives movement points according to Speed and finishes immediately. Spending movement points gained during the activation moves the figure.

Ive not played decent so no idea how it works.

Appears i have been playing it wrong in every game I have played and so have my opponents, including 6 events (3 Store Champs) That will be interesting then when my opponent sets up his HK's behind the bantha and I jump my bantha over theirs and lands on them to squash them :)

It's not my logic, it is how the game works. You can spend movement points at any point before and after actions, but not during. (Unless the movement points are granted by special actions, then you need to use them immediately during that action).

Normally you can start and end movement as many times as you have movement points for as long as you don't stop in a space with another figure (unless massive). You have to end movement to perform an action.

See page 19 of the rules reference guide for the Imperial Assault rules for movement.

Massive (or Mobile) figures do not need to spend extra movement points to enter spaces with hostile figures, but Massive figures cannot enter spaces with another Massive figure, so Banthas can't crawl over each other.

Also page 16 for rules on Massive, and page 20 for rules on Movement Points, which clearly lays out everything a1bert said above

Ha! It seems I remembered that one wrong.
