Another quick question

By Krynn007, in X-Wing

Ps 9 shoots Jan ord

Jan is dead

But he has a ship that is also ps9

My question is will Jan get to use her ability on his ps9 before she is destroyed

No, ships can only stay on the board after being destroyed to shoot with simultaneous fire (and Fels Wrath). Since Jan is not PS 9, Jan is dead and removed straight away.

If Jan was shot by a PS8 (I think Jan is ps8) and was waiting to use simultaneous fire she could buff another ps8 ship before she shoots and is removed.

Probably ninja'd

Hmmmmm I would think so since she isn't removed until the end of PS9 shooting. As long as whoever shot her down is PS9 also.

Nevermind forgot Jan is only PS 8

What is the TO doing that you can't get rulings?

A dice was rolled to decide.

Which should NEVER have happened. Here the rules are clear and should be indisputable.

Jan (PS 8) getting shot by a PS 9 is immediately dead. She doesn't get to wait around to boost some other ship who happens to shoot at PS 9. Killing off ships before they can affect other ships at a given PS is still a great reason to want to shoot first despite simultaneous fire rules.

If two groups of PS 1 ships face off and lets say both sides are supported by Howlrunners. Here the side that shoots first can take out the other side's Howlrunner who is immediately removed before she has a chance to boost the counter attack when here allies get to go. Of course the counter attack taking out the other Howlrunner doesn't do anything as she has already provided her benefit.

Well it all worked out in the end

They rolled and the result was the correct way anyway.

Thank whatever mystical Force you believe will help make things right.

I don't know about you guys, but very rarely do I have a TO while playing X-wing since I'm, you know, not at a tournament. You know people play X-wing at their houses and stuff too, right?

edit: Apparently the OP mentioned a couple of minutes ago in another rules question thread that he's actually asking these questions as he's playing a tournament. I'm speechless.

Just for the record this was a winter kit tournament and all ended well

OP established in a previous post that this was at a tourney.

I've been to a few store championships with absent body TOs, maybe I'm just spoiled with a good TO at my flgs, but the issue has gotten pretty belligerent.

Its the Howlrunner issue, but in reverse PS.
If two Howlie swarms duke it out, the fleet with Initiative has a huge advantage, as they can take out the enemy Howlie before her swarm gets to use her ability to buff their attacks.

So, yeah. This was answered in Wave 1.

Where is your TO?

Whoops, I guess that makes it a legitimate comment/question. If I went to an event where the TO was so absent I had to ask a rules question on a forum during a game I would be pretty irate.

Next time have someone call or PM me. Wouldn't be the first time I've made a ruling from home. Hell I once ran a card game tournament from home when I get stuck at home with the kids.
