Finished F&D Core, whats next?

By sonsaku, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hello everyone :)

I am new to FFG Star Wars game, i had little experience with Star Wars RPGs (only 1 saga game 10+ years ago) but i like the setting and the non-d20 system really appealed to me so i bought the 3 core.

I decided to start with Force and destiny because it had the force rules but now that i have finished i thinking to read the other 2.

My question is if the other 2 books have anything different besides the races, specializations and motivation (Duty/obligation) is the setting part any different from Force and destiny? Or any of the rules i might miss?

Thank you all

Thankfully the rules between all the books are virtually identical. You could take a player from Edge, Age, and toss them in with Force and they'd all be able to play together with very little to no 'this is what's different' clause.

No rules. The differences are what you mentioned, gear selections differ (F&D has more differences than the other two), vehicles differ, adversaries differ. The chapter that focuses on the galaxy is different, because the games have different focuses.

All 3 take place during the same period, but each focuses on slightly different things. The core rules are the same, but then there's things like Duty, Obligation, and Morality. Then the "Galaxy" (and other "fluff" items) stuff is a little different

The fluff is the biggest difference for a GM, each book focuses heavily on a particular style of game. Each one is chock full of story ideas, plot hooks, Party Themes and encounter ideas:

AoR is packed full of information about running a game of PC's in the Rebellion.

EotE is based on PC's being on the Edge of Society, be that in a gang in the bowles of Coruscant, explorers and colonists finding new worlds, or shady guns for hire.

The time period that each book is set in is the same, Original Trilogy.

For PC's the character choices are themed too, so AoR is totally focused on military, from Spy's to Soldiers to Diplomats. EotE is full of those that live on the edge or outside the Law, Bounty Hunters, Exploresrs etc.

No rules. The differences are what you mentioned, gear selections differ (F&D has more differences than the other two), vehicles differ, adversaries differ. The chapter that focuses on the galaxy is different, because the games have different focuses.

Also the GM's chapters focus a bit differently on each games themes. So I would read them too. But once you read one the grunt work of reading the other 2 is pretty much done.

Minimal rules differences. Edge has rules for point defense weaponry on capital ships. This does not appear in the other lines, and Age instead has rules for Gunnery actions specific to Silhouette 5+ starships.

Thank you all for the answers :)
