Agent kallus on echo if you have it.

I just plain love echo with kallus.

Unfortunately i do not have agent kallus. What do you think about navigator on whisper?

Personally, I don't find navigator that useful on Whisper. There are a few situations where it could save your ass, I admit, but I feel that has more to do with prediction skills. I will say, if you are learning the phantom and still getting the feel of it, then yeah, navigator is not a bad idea. However, once you are comfortable with it, navigator feels kind of a waste of potential, since there are some really useful crew options for Whisper. My go-to crew tend to be:

-intel agent for keeping higher PS arc-dodgers in arc

-rebel captive for protection against other aces

-gunner for killing high agility enemies quickly

For my taste...gunner. I think it would be best to have that reroll to just swat down soontir fel and his ilk

if i put gunner on whisper will bring it up to 99 points. Is that ok? Just want to make sure i have initiative.

I would be comfortable there. You far from guarentee it...but...you know..double phantom is a massive risk anyways so... Yeah. If put on my big boy pants ,some cool shades and run it.

Disclaimer....I'm bad at this game and just like to run fun stuff. And double phantoms is ALL the fun.

That should be fine. Its not ideal, but if you are given initiative against other PS 9 ships, you at least have the academy pilot for blocking (and either phantom can block for the other in a pinch)

Ill put gunner on whisper then.

I have played in quite a few games, Local Game Store Events. I too like to play for fun and mix things up. So how about this list.

Echo (30) Calculation (1) Recon Specialist (3) ACD (4)

Sigma (25) FCS (2) ACD (4)

Interceptor Tur Phennir (25) Squad Leader (2) Royal (0) Twin Ion (1) Experimental Interface (3)

My friend didn't like my Echo, with ACD Fire, cloak. de-cloak in another position, rinse, repeat. Use any action, (example) Target Lock. With Calc you can change a focus to critical. Recon, recovers spent focus. :)

Sigma moves into position, action, fires, with ACD get target lock.

Tur with X-interface, does action, triggers X-interface, hence Squad Leader, give a "free" action to one of ships in range (gets stressed). He shoots and scoots. Boost/Barrel roll green maneuver, rinse, repeat.

This looks good in theory, I've yet to try this combo.

Back before Phantoms got nerfed, there was a list at worlds that went:

Echo + Whisper

+ VI

+ FCS

+ Gunner

+ ACD

86 points, 14 point initiative bid.

There's not much we can add to this without gutting the buzz-saw, which buys us an extra 14 points

Echo + Whisper

+ VI

+ ACD

72 points, 28 point initiative bid that we can work on re-filling.

Vs TLTs, I'd want Sensor Jammers

80 points, 20 point initiative bid remaining.

Is there a suitably effective TIE Fighter for fewer than 20 points?

Wampa springs to mind.

We can give him a Targeting Computer to maximize his ability (41% chance to deal a card to Soontir, yo!)

Epsilon Ace & Decoy on Echo. You've got either a PS 12 or PS 9 to choose from.

I've had a lot of fun with it.

Turr cannot use his ability after firing when stressed, it is a free 'action'. You can use experimental interface on his boost or barrel roll, though, if you're really determined to have him stressed.

Tomorrow i will test this list

whisper

vi

rebel captive

FCS

ACD

echo

PTL

adv sensors

recon spec

ACD

Academy pilot

Just be extremely careful with that PtL on Echo. The only times you'll be able to use it are off your Advanced Sensors action or your ACD Cloak action, and more than any other ship you are absolutely committed to clearing that stress, which will make you much easier to predict.

It's probably more trouble than it's worth, overall.

This. I played someone who ran this at a recent tournament. Pretty much arc dodged me with Epsilon Ace to keep PS12 while staying within range for decoy. Both phantoms had intelligence agent too. Very deadly especially with initiative.

Its very difficult to use, so I would never recommend it to a player unless they feel super confident with the phantom. Knowing when to use it and when not to takes a lot of experience.

So be warned, OP! If you use PTL + advanced sensors, its tough on your brain! :)

However, it can be fairly worth it because it gives you more maneuverability than anything in the game. It turns Echo into a low PS eating monster. You can use it reactively to make it almost impossible for PS 1 - 5 to deal with. You can use it to get surprise blocks on high PS ships that you might not otherwise have been able to pull off. Whisper is in the list to deal with the high PS stuff, so it makes for a good compliment.

It also gives you not bad protection against turrets (focus + evade almost every turn, or allows you to decloak + barrel roll to escape combat and still re-cloak to spring back into the fight in a better position).

But yeah, more trouble than its worth? Maybe in a long tournament when mental fatigue sets in, but otherwise, its pretty fun!

My version of that build:

https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/195730-bringing-echo-back-back-back-and-ps12/

Admittedly, I haven't actually flown it yet, but it seems fun!

What should put on echo instead of ptl?

Perhaps this build:

Whisper w/ VI, gunner, FCS & ACD = 44

Echo w/ VI, rebel captive, sensor jammer & ACD = 42

86

There's enough points for a 'redshirt' TIE of your choice (just depends on how much initiative bid you like).

Fly the phantoms far a part and go slow until you know which one your opponent is going after. Use the TIE as a blocker whenever you get the chance...

I just played a few games with my dual phantom list. I played against a 2 Interceptors and 2 FO list. I tabled him with only losing 1 shield on echo. i consider this list a great success, but i am going to drop gunner for rebel captive and then upgrade the TIE to Wampa.

I like rebel captive, but Wampa is unlikely to use his ability often. Its not a bad idea though.

Is FCS worth running on whisper if I'm not running gunner?

Is FCS worth running on whisper if I'm not running gunner?

Certainly! Whisper is pretty good at keeping on target multiple turns in a row----so she doesn't have to switch targets often (which plays into FCS' strength)
