Scum Tie Fighters From Rebels? Will we see them?

By eagletsi111, in X-Wing

Just caught up on Rebels, so now that we have seen Scum Tie Fighters from Rebels. Will FFG add scum tie fighters to the Scum Faction? Do people want that? I think it would be very interesting.

Just wandering what people think about it?

Scum already have TIE Fighters. It's called a Scyk and it's an overpriced piece of junk.

I'd like Uglies first.

No thank you, if they add them, I want them imperial! Ties are the only unique thing we got!

They wont. Both rebels and imperial captured each others ships. Have you seen them? guess not.

I think we will see a new model and some new Tie only titles/mods that will allow both the Empire and Scum to take "clipped wing" Ties. The titles/mods will work for all Ties, but Scum will only be allowed the "Clipped Wing". "Clipped Wings" will be faster(more straight greens) than a regular Tie, but less maneuverable(red hard turns). This will be the second cross faction ship for Empire/Scum.(after the Firespray) Since the Rebels/Scum share 3 ships, Empire/Scum will still be 1 down after the "Clipped Wing". I vote for that awesome Mandalorian fighter from Rebels, the Fang Fighter.

Those TIEs aren't Scum, they're corporate. They didn't steal those TIEs, the Empire provided them.

Neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! GET HYPE!

Do not think so, it would water down faction identity too much.

Then is 12pts the lower limit of the game, as of now we cannot have cheaper ships, as these TIEs are weaker than Empire TIEs, how should that be incorporated into the game?

Side comment: And please, no uglies. Build some yourself, if you want them that much.

While it is true that the Clipped Wings we saw where part of the Mining Guild, and obviously sold/bartered from the Empire, the Mining Guild is a separate organization and would fall under the Scum faction the same way as the Corporate Sector Authority or Chiss Ascendancy would. Maybe that is semantics, but I still hope they are a Scum/Empire release. I think they will end up in the game at some point and as an Empire player mainly, I really don't want another Tie as the only thing Empire gets in a wave. Tie Fighter, Tie F/O, Tie Advanced Prototype, Clipped Wing Tie, etc, etc, etc. I know that the Empire is all about small, mass produced, expendable fighters, but it gets old after a while. If the Clipped Wing Tie was a Scum/Empire release, then maybe the Empire would get a different type of ship for a change as its part of the wave. Of course I would be ecstatic if FFG put out an "Allies and Mercenaries" box set, that like Most Wanted expanded the game. They could put in the Clipped Wing and the Fang Fighter, with cards for both Scum and Empire. That would be awesome!

The clipped wing TIEs have weaker power generation which makes them less effective in every respect that requires power. Their advantage is a slight visibility improvement out of the viewport, but most of the time you'll be using your instruments anyway.

Neither of those would fall under Scum. Scum isn't "not Rebels or Empire," it's the galactic underworld.

How do you know that Clipped Wings have lower power levels than regular Ties? Where was that stated? I know Henry Gilroy(the writer) stated that the Clipped Wing couldn't turn as nimbly as a regular Tie but was good at straight lines. And I totally agree about the CSA and Chiss not being Scum, but unless FFG makes a fourth faction like "Allies and Aliens" or something, they fall under Scum by default as does the Mining Guild.

Wookiee (which can be be wrong I concede), I didn't chase down the source. The reasoning behind it was that you've removed a third of the solar panels.

They fall under not part of the game.

I feel like they talked about the modded ties in rebels recon. Lower power / maneuverability for higher visability.

And given physical visibility isn't that important when the ball cockpit itself leaves you ~235 degree blind it becomes a trade of low power and maneuverability for being allowed to use them. Downgraded for sale.

That's true, but so does anything that is in SW but not in Xwing Miniatures. The Clipped Wing itself falls under "not part of the game" along with any unannounced expansions until they are.

They discussed it with the makers of the show in that episode's Rebels Recon.

That is what ive been saying, the Tie cockpit has low visabiltiy anyway, the wings don't really matter!

We can only hope they don't.

So maybe the Empire just sold the Clipped Wing to the Mining Guild under the pretense that "it has better visibility" but really it was so that "we can kill you easily if you ever fight us"

I feel like that will never be canon, but yea. Or maybe they just made it even cheaper for exporting. I bet taking out 1/3 of a solar panel saves Credits.

Chiss would be Empire purely because of Thrawn's phalanx. Scum isn't just every miscellaneous faction cobbled, they're the undesirables from the other corners of the galaxy. Bottom tier mercs, smugglers, pirates, actual scum.

Looted TIEs isn't just a disservice to Imperial players, they dilute a nich Z-95's perform adequately already. If you want Scum ties, make Invid clutches or the uglies.

2 things.

1, Scum faction is the catch-all until if and when FFG makes a 4th faction of "honorable non Empire/Rebels/Scum". That could mean other galactic powers, planetary governments, etc. As of now, the only faction the Mining Guild would fit in is Scum. Based on Lando and Leia'conversation of -

Lando - "Since we're a small operation, we don't fall under the jurisdiction of the Empire."

Leia - "So you're part of the Mining Guild then"

it can be determined that although the Empire and Mining Guild are obviously Allies/business partners, they are in fact very separate entities, that even a Rebel leader can distinguish. Therefore the Mining Guild would be Scum for now.

And 2, since we have a canon source with "Scum" people(non Empire) flying Clipped Wing Ties - a totally different model of Tie, not "looted" as you say- it is a safe bet to assume they could make an appearance in Xwing. Lead Designer Alex Davey recently stated in an interview that they would be using new material from Rebels and the new movies. I think a cross factional Clipped Wing is very possible if not inevitable.

So if, if it's not directly under the empire's control, it's scum? what kind of logic is that?

Imperial logic.

I think it's "our version of the Tie fighter sucks, we want this one" logic.
