ok im a little confused.

how to you use the conversion kit with d2e - i have both 1st and 2nd editions and i believe that to use the conversion monsters they are used as an open group in 2nd edition but are there any rules etc -- in the 1st edition you usually started with the lower level monsters and work up to the big guys, does this kit now mean you can start with the big guys as an open group??

The campaign rules state what monsters group you can pick (+ top page monster traits available for open groups) . The Monster card indicates the number of monsters and type (master or not) to be used.

In Descent 2E every monster has a weaker (Act I) and a stronger (Act II) version. This means: 1.) Pay attention to the monster-version you are using and 2.) All monsters are supposed to roughly have the same power, but also come with unique abilities that make them more suited in certain circumstances.
