deployment cards more?

By nojjon, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I recently started playing skirmish having played mostly campaign. Its there any way to get more deployment cards for more skirmish options. other then to buy multiple base sets for just the cards. I find it so silly buying another base set just to throw away half of whats in the box. Skirmish really feels like an afterthought the more your play it. How hard would it be for ffg to add like a few more copies of cards or to make some deployment deck purchasable.

stop treating IA like descent....

Yeah I find this frustrating too. They should have double sided the regular/elite versions like (with the soon to be) reprinted Royal Guard and included the same two copies. Though I suspect that causes trouble with the open groups in the campaign.

It is rather funny, in X-wing Alt Art is just a nice bonus, in IA Alt Art actually gives you more playable options. Desperately need another regular HKs.

So far only the storm troopers are available as a separate expansion pack (I think), and you can get the revised imperial guard cards by going to tournaments (or buy on eBay from people who have gone to tournaments). So far that's it though (I think).

A friend of mine did point out that a second core set would not be a total waste. In addition to more cards and miniatures he suggested taking both sets of tiles, painting one side of each tile white, and marking that tiles number/letter combo in great big black sharpie so that you can find the correct tiles more easily. Bit of an extravagance, but something to think about.

the playable options are basically the smaller expansion packs. Like i dont mind buying those if i need but full expansions i think is jus a waste. all the extra campaign components and tiles.... I can't see anyone carry around extra map tiles... LOL. If they release the figs in the base game in smaller packs it would also work 2. More like x-wing. They gotta show us some more love... There is noway they dont know this is a huge problem... Its prob why there are alot more xwing players then IA 2 and i mean alot more.

Well, x-wing has been out for 4 years longer that IA.

I fully expect we will either see individual expansions of core set figures or other releases that make wanting multiples of the core set unlikely. This is still a very young game, and FFG has an excellent record for (eventually) releasing components in ways that are easily accessible to the fans. It just may take awhile.

In x-wing at least, the development cycle is around 18 months. If that holds true for IA as well, then the core game hadn't even been released when the stuff coming out now was being developed. When they were planning the rules and stats for the Bantha they had no way of knowing what the skirmish meta was going to look like or what the fans were actually going to want.
