Anyone actually have a BFR gripmat in hand?

By DUR, in Star Wars: Armada

If so, can you let us know how it plays :)?

I like my $30 yoga mat and all... I just want to investigate alternatives.

I have played on several and actually ordered one last October. I had no idea that they were changing the material at that time and it was delayed several times. I'm hoping my $ and this long wait will pay off... since I still don't have it but they've posted photos that the new mats are done and were shipped to them this week.

I really liked how grippy it was, which is why I ordered an Armada sized one for myself.

Order one back in sept. With a ship date of 10/15 then 11/15 then 1/15 then 2/15 and looks like its now 3/1.

Seems they changed supplier and coating, plus where held up by US customs over the holidays and this and that.

So if i get the damm thing after the 5 month delay i let you know

Just checked my order this morning and in fact I also ordered in Sept. No communication that they were changing the material or coating of the mat until a couple months after I ordered it. Very, very poor communication. But considering I liked the product enough to spend their high asking prices in the first place, I think it's probably worth it.

I also have a 72x36 mat on order that is supposed to arrive next month. I played around on a small gripmat and it was great, thus i ordered kne for armada. My endless quest for a good Armada mat may be over. I have/had 4 mats now.

Looking forward to people's review of this product once they actually have it in hand. I'm not super into my current mat situation.

It's a May-Miracle! My (Armada) GripMat has finally shipped! Not only did they send me an email saying it shipped, I also got a email from USPS saying a package was on the way.

Please let us know how it fairs!

If it's actually as grippy as the videos suggest, I would love to get my hands on one

That's surprising. I'm not holding my breath that mine will ever be shipped to me.

I only ordered one because I played around with a smaller GripMat over a year ago and it was REALLY good for holding Armada ships and squadrons in place, but they have since gone through a few versions of the mat and even had a big problem with grippyness. I was told in the email sent to me that all grippyness problems have been resolved. We'll see.

I've had my eye on these for a while but have been put off by the huge delays for pre-order. If they live up to the hype I'd love to know as I might just bite the bullet.

FATMAT's are pricey, but well worth it.

I have one of the new ones, but it was one of the first sent out so it is defective.

It is nothing more than a large mousepad at this point.

I would wait to see if they can fix the production issues they are having before ordering one.

I ordered mine 2 months ago and it just came in today.

Report? Grippy? Streaky? Curly???

Can you tell us more about how good/bad they are for armada, in these areas:

- pieces sliding/gripping to mat

- curling / laying flat?

- image quality

- 6x3 size accuracy ( I've had a lot of mats that aren't close to 72 inches or 36 inches)

- price

- best place to buy

Thanks

I also received mine today and ...... STRIKE 7!! They sent me a 3x3 mat instead of the 6x3 I ordered. I've ordered 7 mats from various vendors and all 7 have been epic failures. I'm still using the $4 felt I bought at JoAnn Fabrics!

FFG, get off your *** and make an official 6x3 Armada mat!!

Well... how's it play, other than the fact that it's half-sized?

I have mine. It is one of the ones that does NOT have the grip layer on it. I just emailed BFR games and am hoping to get a replacement, and it is basically a neoprene mat at this point. The print is nice, and it lays flat. But the price, I want it to be grippy as advertised.

My 3 x 3 mat that is very grumpy and is actually really nice. But it does have the streaks that they said were a problem with their print run, but for a Spacemat with some nebula on it, the streaks almost look Cosmic. XWing anyone??

Grumpy=grippy (my mat).

Me=grumpy for getting a 3x3 mat. :(

this amount of trouble for a **** mat makes me happy i jsut got my HCD mousepad one and will get a bespin one later

The mat is the same materials as mouse pads so it's thick enough I have had any of the problems you mentioned. They come with a case made to carry them rolled up, which is pretty cool. My only complaint is that they only have one background in the 4'x6' size. I got mine a year ago on the websight of Frontline Gaming. It cost me aroung $100 after shipping. I think if you go straight to FATMAT's websight they have map of retailers in the US.
