Different ships cause I didn't have everything Clontroper5 build has

5 activations, huge bid, first player, last to act

And the part where you triple tap and vaporize a ship is just beyond words... I can imagine obi-wan just feeling faint all of the sudden, frantically finding a seat, and exclaiming "I've just felt a great disturbance in the force!"

I'm trying to grapple with not taking the most powerful move in the game right now to store championships, but the power of the dark side is compelling....

Likely my inexperience with the game as a whole will keep me from placing, but triple tap demolisher is so good how do you not take it??

Having the additional activation is key. I've tried something similar with an equal number of activations as my opponent and it just doesn't work. To get 5 activations you pretty much need to be running only Raiders and GSD's.

Or you face a list with 385 points

Or, you can just take a stupidly high activation bid like I did on Vassal a couple of nights ago.

4 VSD I's and a Demo. Its doable. Good luck with that.

There are quite a lot of lists that can out activate if they so choose.

Ha ha... I was thinking about what to do if you face 5 ships and still have initiative...

Do you A: go first and try and knock out a ship quickly to try and regain activation advantage, which will be very hard to do without triple tap online

Our do you B: go second and let your objectives do the talking

"Can I outplay the guy who gave me my first real game of Armada, when he's taken my first real advantage off me?"

Yes, your objectives start to become very important at that instant... You have to choose them wisely...

So 5 naked ships... agree that this is a stack load of hull to get through but surely its going to be out manoeuvred and out ranged plus you have no fighter cover? Are you using your initiative bid here to go first or enforce your objectives? Picking opening salvo, contested outpost, and mine field?

Its mostly for fun. I was Dared to do it, so Doing it, I am.

Its also a case of, "Out Maneuvered" - Possibly. Its easy to out-maneuver the individual elements, for sure. But as a whole, its a hell of a Phalanx to attempt to to try to get around. There's only so many places you can go with a wall of VSDs...

Same as Out-Ranged... What's going to Out-Range it consistently? Ackbar Lists of Assault Frigates, at which point, you ask, what doesn't that out-range consistantly anyway?... Just Chill and be one with the Wall.

Fighter Cover is the risk. A Serious Rhymer Ball may burn down a Victory a Turn from turn 2 Onwards... I just have to lever that against dealing with Ships... Or give up some serious Ack-ack in the form of just a bunch of smart formation flying to get as many arcs on squadrons as possible... And hope.

I was mostly dared to do it, because the Sentry Box is going to have a Livestream of games being played during the Championships, and they were not expecting anyone to be crazy enough to put 5 Victories on the Table... So I'm begging/borrowing/stealing to make it so.

The victory is a slow moving bumbler... But it only has 1 less red die than an ISD at long Range, and typically, it has the hull to survive until Short range.

Will I feel the lack of Gunnery Teams? Perhaps... But that being said, I just have 5 Victories instead... I could consistently be putting 12-16 Red dice into a Target if I'm liberal with Concentrate Fires...

With any All-Ship List, its a Hell of a Gamble. But its a Gamble I'm willing to Make for the sake of pure entertainment.

My Goal is only Top 8 for an Acrylic Range ruler, anyway... My 2-year-old Son Folded my cardboard one in half and I'm using a loaner for the Tournament...

I have a list I am waiting to try that has:

ISD 2 + Screed

3x Raider 1 + Ordnance Experts + APT

Demolisher + OEs + APT

Points to spare.

A naked maxed out list sounds like crazy fun. Gotta admit I've had similar thoughts tho in my case I was thinking something more Glad heavy.

For anti-squadron I kind of wonder if it wouldn't make sense to fly two ships, each with a double dice anti-squadron (2 blue or a black-blue combo) to try and straddle enemy squadrons between and then go for that 4 dice of doom to work on burning them down.

It would certainly be smarter.

I mean, as personalpreference, I'd rather be running this as 4 Vics, Tarken and some Squadrons.... But, that's not Five VSDs...

So I was limited to Motti, Screed or Ozzel.

Ozzel would have bought 1 Upgrade to a Vic-II, which I'm not too happy with.

Screed would have dropped to a 9pt Bid, but given some regularity to the shots... But he's also not 50 Hull Points...

That is on top of the damage that will likely to be doled out by the carrier - being an ISD-II with Gunnery Teams, most likely... So yes, it is possible :)

I don't play Vassal, so all this discussion of hi-bomber, hi-Raider lists just don't compute for me because I (nor anyone in my meta really) have all the gear needed to do such a thing in f2f games.

I mean, yeah I'd love to experiment running 12 TIE Bombers with other stuff, but I just don't have the money to buy four more fighter packs. For the amount of money invested there, I'd rather buy a third ISD, or grab some of Mel's customs to replace the scum.

Stick 1 bomber on each stand, and you've already got 6. If your opponent asks, just say their Elite Bombers who fly alone :D

If you like it, then by all means go give all your money to FFG to buy the models, but until then it's a great stop-gap for testing and friendly games.
