Final Wave VIII Article! Paul Heaver on Boba Fett

By Tsiegtiez, in X-Wing

"discuss your favorite choices as we all await the official news that Wave VIII has dropped out of hyperspace!"

Even the announcements are delayed. Hyperspace? Fluidic on impulse-only, more like...

Nice, but why is it scum only? Imperials have firesprays and rebels have hwks -- 2 of the 3 ships mentioned in need of buffs.

Wow. Does FFG every have anyone fact check their articles? It seems like they are always making mistake with the X-wing articles.

Edit: WAVE VIII LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY GET HYPE

There was an error in the article. The expected street date is Thursday, March 17th. The article has been edited.

Nobody expects a well-timed Tallon-Roll.

Paul Heaver is better at writing X-Wing previews than the team that is paid to write the previews.

Check their twitter. I quote

So, #XWing fans, bad news: Wave 8 won't be out until mid-march. We forgot to update the article (written forever ago). We know, we know. :(

Nice, but why is it scum only?

Because Boba would never work for the Rebels and frankly should've never been included in the Imperial faction.

Another reason is faction ID. They want each faction to have something that sets it apart and this kind of sneaky trick is fitting for the S&V faction.

Apparently not. At least it doesn't have blatantly wrong information about gameplay, like the K-Wing article.

Clearly, Vader disallows disintegrations.

FFG just tweeted "shenanigans" on the article... they forgot to update it, wave 8 won't be out until mid-March

You called?

So the new wave is releasing before a couple stores near me finish their championships?

Not the first time it's happened.

Far from the first time. I'll be taking my Wave 7 Palpatine Aces out to TableTop in Overland Park, KS on March 12 to get my butt thoroughly kicked. Then I'll have to come up with something fun for Village Geek in McPherson, KS on March 26.

It'll be fun, if you like adapting quickly and trying out new stuff, and it'll be a nightmare if you actually want to win.

Are you planning on Tulsa regionals?

Depends when they're scheduled and how much time I can afford to take off, but it's definitely on my radar.

I don't believe the article.

And you were right not to, apparently!

The Upcoming page stays winning.

Can Boba Fett be his own crewmember?

If so, is it him having a Tyler Durdenesque conversation in his own head about whether or not he is allowed to disintegrate anything?

I don't see why he wouldn't work for the Rebels if they paid him enough, and certainly we know he worked for the imperials. Why should he never have been included in the imperial faction? It makes a lot more sense to me than creating a whole other faction, but whatever. I guess I'll house-rule it.

(Just to be clear, I shamelessly stole this from a Nova Squadron facebook member.)

Can Boba Fett be his own crewmember?

No he can't. You can only ever have one of any unique named "character" in a list. So you can't have Darth Vader (crew) and Darth Vader (pilot) in the same list, or Luke, or Han, ect...

It makes a lot more sense to me than creating a whole other faction, but whatever.

No it doesn't... Boba Fett was out for the check, he was never part of the Empire. It just so happened that both him and the Empire wanted the same people captured.

The only reason he's an Imperial is because Slave 1 is iconic and S&V didn't exist yet.

Confirmed: Devs don't think Y-Wings need help.

Probability for Y-Wing in Rebel Vets officially at lowest point yet.

Umm, you know that Paul Heaver isn't part of the design team, right?

He should be! AS much as I love FFG. they should totally hire that guy. If they had, Imperial Assault wouldn't have had their 4x4 debacle.

Plus, y'know... they don't.

Imperial Assault wouldn't have had the issue if they hadn't tried to tack a skirmish game onto a dungeon crawl game.
