Another fun Friday Fight! If anything, I might have to table a Saber vs. Green game of X- wing soon because of this.
I've taken suggestions into consisting for next week. =)

Saber Squadron. Their leader is renowned ace Soontir Fel. Green Squadron's leader got killed by a generic fighter, and the only reason they got their prestigious kill of a SSD was because their leader's craft didn't go poof in a fireball, but was escorted by the plot directly into the bridge. In a plot armor-less engagement, Saber Squadron wins. Even if we look at the X-wing cards, Green Squadron is PS 3 with no EPT. Saber is PS 4 with an EPT. Saber = better.
Better double check your sources! GSP has ps3 with EPT plus the A-wings title gives them one additional EPT slot. Combine that with either missiles (as I would do the thematic element of this battle) or way lower cost via Chardaan Refit. I actually want to get together with a buddy and try this little slugfest, I'll take the Greens ![]()

I'm not going to take complaining about plot-armour seriously when you talk about what a great pilot Soontir Fel is. He should be renamed to Plotty McPlotarmour the first, that's how much he relies on the plot to be good.

Right, didn't notice they had the EPT as well. But I'm not counting the title because that was just silly nonsense on FFG's part.

Woah there, didn't mean to rustle yer jimmies. Not like I read any of that stuff anyway. Besides, I hate when characters get Sylar'd, so if I did read them I'd probably be right there with you. Of course from what I understand, almost every named character had their amount of Mary Sueing and Plot Armoring.

I can see where you're coming from on the A-wing title, but I disagree on whether or not to include it since the A-wing was still a very new design at the time of the battle of Endor. I think green squad was the only full squadron and at least one pilot (Tycho) was a recent transfer. Even without the title though, A-wings can get either homing or concussion Missiles and my personal fly style will prefer the blocking at ps3 over dodging at ps4.Right, didn't notice they had the EPT as well. A-wings being new has been firmly retconned. There were A-wings (not spearheads) flying 5 years BBY.
I would take Green Squadron 6 days a week and twice on Sundays. Saber Squadron was a paper tiger, with Fel and Phennir striking fear into Rebel pilots, but unable to single handedly turn the tide of the battle when the rest of their pilots (who were previously some of the worst in the Empire) couldn't bring down an old freighter and an X-wing inside of the DSII core.
Seriously, did everyone decide to skip this part of RotJ?
Meanwhile, Green Squadron in Canon and Legends brings down the SSD Executor (Arvel sacrificing himself is not luck and neither is the pair of greens that dump PRockets into the port Deflector Shield generators right before the run on the bridge).
Obviously the deathmatch can be played out in this very game by using the ships themselves. Depending on your skill and loadout the game can be an overwhelming victory for either side. If I was flying the Greens though, I would take:
100 points GSP+PRockets+PtL+AWTP+VI x3 and a GSP+Chaardan Refit+PtL+AWTP+Intimidation.
100 points of Saber is much more difficult to make effective, since they want PtL for all the actions but lack the ability (or the points) to take two modifications. Mostly it ends up being 4x Sabers with PtL and two have either AutoThrusters or Targeting Computer. Personally, with the close in fighting, I would rather take the Targeting Computers, but I don't feel that the Sabers would have much in the way of an advantage like the GSPs have being able to take two EPTs.
Luckily - this is a match we can simulate
I'd do 4 Interceptors, 2 with PtL and 2 with Outmaneuver, and all with TIE Mk. II.

As much as I think the Sabers would win in a movie math up, I fear the A-wing has the advantage on the board. All the A-wings, except for the prototype would be available to the Green Squadron. Fel, Turr, "Fel's Wrath", and Saber would be available to the Saber Squadron.
As an A-wing player knowing I was about to face Interceptors, I'd bring both Tycko and Jake with VI and PTL. I could load out three named A-wings with Prockets easy inside 100 points. I would end up fielding the following:
99 points
Tycho Celchu (34) A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Proton Rockets (3), Veteran Instincts (1), Munitions Failsafe (1), Push the Limit (3)
Jake Farrell (34) A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Proton Rockets (3), Veteran Instincts (1), Hull Upgrade (3), Push the Limit (3)
Gemmer Sojan (31) A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Proton Rockets (3), Hull Upgrade (3), Push the Limit (3)
As the Interceptor player, I could save points by not taking Autothrusters. Seeing how "Fel's Wrath" does not have an EPT, that leaves Fel and Turr (with a Saber to round out the squad). If you went the numbers route, you could fit Fel and Turr with two naked Sabers at 100 points. I'm not sure that's the way I'd go though. I need Fel to at least go second! For 97 points, I could field all three with PTL, and HU. Fell and Turr would also get SD
97 points
Soontir Fel (36) Royal Guard TIE (0), Push the Limit (3), Stealth Device (3), Hull Upgrade (3)
Turr Phennir (34) Royal Guard TIE (0), Push the Limit (3), Stealth Device (3), Hull Upgrade (3)
Saber Squadron Pilot (27) Push the Limit (3), Hull Upgrade (3)
or
100 points
Soontir Fel (30) Push the Limit (3)
Turr Phennir (28) Push the Limit (3)
Saber Squadron Pilot (21) x 2
I don't like my chances here as the player with the squints....
