I want to tell you about a teacher who changed my mind

He was quite an "insignificant" person, about 1,50 ctms height, slender, soft spoken, not a charismatic leader. His name was José Blanco, a teacher and a catolic priest.

He was involved in my education when I was 10-13. A good man full of wisdom, he was an inspiring teacher and he promoved reading and critic view. He was not a memoristic or rigid teacher, he wanted all of us to read and think about what you read. If you was a brilliant student he softly guided you towards "serious" books, if you was one of those who not, there was a pletora of books to interesant them. The opposite of a selfish and arrogant priest as often we saw in films about catolic schools, he passed away two days ago.

I want to tribute the best teacher in my life. A good man.

Sounds like a Dominican. Was he a Dominican?

Hex, I know what you mean. I had 17 years of Catholic education but only one priest and two lay teachers that stood apart from the rest. Unfortunately both have passed on but when I think about them it always puts a smile on my face.

Jesuita. Quite broad minded group, in general. José was 87 years old, and till he was 84-85, his health was ( more or less ) OK, lucid mind, and he worked in obtaining more books for the school library. In my area he was the first to execute this idea.

- Look for some "mecenas" ( jojojo, a mecenas...I donated only 100 euros )

- Buy some E-books

- Now he owned a tool for his students to read out of stock books

And he was the first in my area to expand the library to e books. Now it is, of course, standard. But not the.

God bless you, José
