It's been a while since the last Epic report, but here's one. 400 points, it was a blast with three huges and lot of the ordnance on the both sides.

Branch Chiefs' operation after action review, chief of operations commander Morelli presiding:
- ...and gentlemen, I would say that overall our forces were successful preventing the Rebel raiding parties hitting our supply convoys. But there were some observations to be considered in the future operations, so I requested major Rhymer from the bomber group to shed light on these. Major, please, go ahead.
- Sir, gentlemen, I am honoured to be at such a high level meating, this means a lot to me and…
- Major, get to the point and be brief.
- Sir, sorry. I was leading a flight of bombers to support the fighters in the anti-capital ship fighting. Our task force had a flight of TIE/ln, some of those actually were those new prototypes with light shielding and target acquisition computers, led by colonel Vessery in TIE/d. We also had one of the new Phantom stealth fighters, one TIE/x1, and one Lambda in ECM/EW duty.
My flight was docked in the Gozanti carrier to save the pilots and the machines. The carrier in question was actually Requiem, a slightly modded version with highly effective crew. With this task force we vectored to intercept a Rebel raiding force of a Corellian CR-90, a transport, and a flight of different rebel fighter-bombers.
- Major, could you be more specific? Which types the Rebels were using?
- Naturally, sir. We met three B-Wings, apparently cannon armed variants, two of those new K-Wings – I cannot confirm their armament – and a Y-Wing in a torpedo bomber role [Horton Salm]. In addition, there were a civilian yacht, most likely a HWK-290 [Decoy Jan Ors], who else, but it cannot be confirmed. The Rebel light vessels were surprisingly flying between the transport and the corvette, not covering their flanks. Our fighters supported by the shuttle flew against the transport, Requiem closing the distance as fast as possible. Here is a scan of the enemy K-Wings turning surprisingly fast against our fighters.
TIE/fos with Dark Curse and Howlrunner closing on the K-Wings
- Were the Rebels using any ordnance?
- No, sir. Actually they did not even use their turrets, my estimate is that they were meant to be used in a ground assault [they had proton bombs], and lacked proper crew and equipment for space combat. Our fighters quickly destroyed one, but as you can see in the next scan, we lost our TIE/ln leader to the CR-90's main gun. The standard TIE/ln is not well-armoured enough to withstand the firepower of that magnit…
The battle is joined, first casualties! Naturally Howlrunner ![]()
- Major, they are perfectly good Imperial fighters. Continue.
- Yes, sir. The new prototype versions were much more resilient, but even so, we lost two more fighters, as you can in the next scan. Please note that the GR-75 is not painted in the usual Rebel schemes, but it seems to be from a commercial transport company – either stolen or the Rebels are using private contractors.

- Thank you, major. We will inform ISB to look into it.
- Very good, sir. May I continue?
- Go ahead, major.
- Sir, the fighters were struggling to gain a upper hand as the Rebel heavy fighters had a considerable firepower. We lost TIE/x1 and Vessery's D, plus one of the new TIEs crashed into an asteroid. I ordered my bombers to attack the transport, and the Requiem's extra scanners and very effective command crew [Fleet Officer, Targeting Coordinator, Ordnance Experts] proved to be an useful asset. We had no problem to launch an effective salvo of homings and proton torps to destroy the transport.
A particulary bloody turn. Ships blowing up all over.
The enemy heavy fighters had no chance to escape as they are extremely clumsy even for a bomber. I personally destroyed one of the B-Wings with a salvo of new version of proton torpedoes. I had also a load of new advanced homings, but to be honest, it is hard to recommend either of those as they are hard to use effectively unless the pilot is highly experienced – like myself. Please have a look.
Rhymer deploys from the Gozanti and pours APTs on a hapless B-Wing.
- Yes, major, you made your point clear. Back to the subject.
- Sir. We managed to destroy all of the B- and K-Wings, losing the Lambda to the CR-90. As we closed the corvette we realized that it was equipped with missile and torpedo racks instead of the usual turbo-laser batteries. The missiles were effective but had closer range than the lasers, so we had less counter-fire than anticipated. The Lambda's ECM systems proved to be helpful.
Kagi is out, but so are the last of the K's and B's.
I had to finish off the crippled Y-Wing myself as they are sometimes hard to kill. The yacht was disengaging as it took a torpedo hit from one of my bombers, and the unescorted CR-90 had to abort its raid. We were running short of the ordnance, so I ordered our remaining forces not to pursuit as the corvette was still fully operational.
Rhymer is mopping up.
- Major, retreating from a battle and sparing the Rebel terrorists could be considered as a treason.
- Sir, I did not came to be the commander of Scimitar squadron because of my relatives in Coruscant. I know when to fight!
- Yes, yes, thank you, major. Would you like to add anything more?
- No sir, but can I ask a question from the chief of ordnance branch?
- Go ahead, major.
- Sir, is there any word of the long-awaited guidance chips? Or are they still ”on the boat”, whatever that means?
- Major! Remember your position. Dismissed!
