Dice Modification Clarification

By DJensen, in X-Wing Rules Questions

In a situation where both the attacker and defender can modify the dice (either attack or defense dice) who has to make the first modification?

For example - a player with a focus token rolls the defense dice and gets a focus result; if the attacker has the Juke ability, who makes the first modification?

I suspect the answer is who ever rolls the dice must go first but wanted to check.

Thanks for the help.

I saw your other post first! When one player rolls dice, the other player modifies first. Repeated here for convenience:

Whenever a player rolls, the other player gets the first opportunity to modify dice. It goes like this:

(1) Attacker rolls dice.

- (a) Defender modifies attack dice.

- (b) Attacker modifies defense dice.

(2) Defender rolls dice.

- (a) Attacker modifies defense dice.

- (b) Defender modifies defense dice.

(3) Compare results.

As noted, if you roll then the other guy has to make ALL of his modifications first. After he has made any modifications you are free to make your changes knowing what he has already done. Do note that if your opponent reroll any dice before you get the chance then you can not also reroll those dice; this falls under the rule allowing only one reroll. Also take note that there are a few effects that alter how modifications can, or cannot, be made; a Sensor Jammer can turn a hit into an eye but specifies that the die may NOT be rerolled although spending a Focus to turn it back into a hit is perfectly fine.

Thanks.
