My List:
Ten Numb + Calculation + Tractor Beam + FCS
Poe + R5P9 + PTL + AT
Stresshog
Opponent:
3x Bwing + Ion Cannon + FCS + Gunner
So, I wanted to try tractor beam out, and made a few different lists: Blue sqd with tractor beam, but then cant take advantage of -1 agility. Then I toyed around with Farlander and Nera, but didnt like it with them because their pilot abilities can be used for SO much more. I never liked Numb too much cause he was costly. But with Calculation and Tractor Beam he is a decent price. I had two points leftover so I tossed FCS on him.
Numb is perfect for a tractor beam. With calculation, you are guaranteed a beam token as long as you roll a focus or crit. And paired with Poe, same PS, Numb can get -1 agility token, then Poe can attack.
In one round Poe dodged two bwing arcs but still ended up at range 1 of the third one. Ten Numb attacked with tractor beam through an asteroid. Calculation turned focus to crit. Was able to pull the bwing just barely onto an asteroid, unfortunately no damage. But Poe was saved.
Pretty much same thing happened in another round. My opponents Bwing was lined up for a shot on my stresshog. From range 3, Ten Numb fired tractor beam, got a crit, then pulled the ship right onto another asteroid, got damage this time. Stupid me though, pulled the bwing just barely out of Poe's arc, so now Poe was forced to attack another ship.
I never really got the chance to have Poe attack after the -1 agility. Either was using it for defense, or didnt measure correctly. However, it sure was fun!
The times I used tractor beam, should I have just equipped a Mangler Cannon and done damage with Numb? One tractor beam attack I rolled two hits and a crit "And I was just like, ****, should had my Mangler!" It did save my stresshog from taking damage, but I didnt cause much damage other than the asteroid hit. So, there is definately a trade off. Numb was saving HP, but not dishing out any damage. Not sure if that is good or bad
Having two cannon slots on Numb would be ideal, haha.
My thought process was this: If you're flying against aces, from range 3, Ten Numb could hit an ace, reduce its agility, and possibly throw him on a rock and let the wolves have at him. But with Mangler and Calc, if the ace has no shields like Soontir, etc, a Mangler is probably better anyways to get that crit through. I dunno, gotta play with it more!
NOTE: Reason I do Mangler + Calc is I am the master at rolling 2 blanks and a focus!
