Yes, Visceroth is pulling another one of his famous "Tallon Rolls", I'm afraid to say.

And I almost fell for it too.

I hope they never officialy say "there will never be a Gunboat" because I love watching everyone get their hopes up, and then dashed every wave. :P

I want a Wave 10 ship to have an "Imperial Gunboat"- a canon ship from Rogue One that has zero resemblance to the EU ship of the same name.

Yesssss

I know this is a big fat stretch, but what if FFG turned in specs for the Gunboat for Wave 7, and Disney politely said "hold on to that one" since it's going to appear in Rogue One?

Most certainly not the case, but hey, a guy can dream.

Now that we have more steady sources of new ships. Rebels, new movie every year, the new comics, I really dont expect to ever get the gunboat.

The reason I say so, is that the ship doesnt fit in with the imperial "style" as it is essentially a "rebel style" ship. From a design pov it is also incredibly boring and it is quite possible they simply dont want the imperials to have a cheap cannon platform such as that.

The Gunboat is styled after the Lambda Shuttle...

Yep. Both Cygnus Spaceworks ships, and the Lambda is an iconic Imperial design. So calling it a "rebel style" ship is drivel.

And while we're at it, "from a design pov is also incredibly boring" is nothing more than an opinion, and one which exhibits a complete and utter lack of imagination.

... they ain't gonna make 'em.

Yep, that's always an option, Bossman.

Anyway, when i said "rebel style" i didnt mean to be talking about the look of the ship but I should have said that it is rebel-style gameplay wise. It would be a small ship with a one forward with just the focus and TL and not a very spectacular dial. It would be a ship that flys straight at the opponent and blasts it. That is a rebel and partially scum theme and not imperial.

Now, overlap happens, like the Decimator, or the awing, but it is just my opinion that giving the imperials a very straight-forward 16-18 pt ship with a cannon slot and some torpedoes/missile is not on their priority list.

Personally, id love to see the ship - i loved Tie Fighter as much as anyone, but from a gameplay perspective and looking at the faction as a whole, im not sure it makes sense.

as opposed to the ugly prequel ships? With 5 seconds of screen time each?

If you think they are ugly that's your opinion. But I don't know where you're going with the 5 second thing. Yes a couple ships were shown briefly, most notably the v-wing. But you could say the same for the tie bomber and b-wing.

ARC-170, V-Wing, AT-AP, AT-TE, AT-OT, A6 Juggernaut, P-38 Starfighter, Belbullab-22, Tri-fighter and the Techno-Union Mankvim-814 get just enough screen time for Lucasfilm to make toys out of them, but not enough for it not to feel like a shameless cash grab.

Our T65 fix will be in a Rogue One tie in product.

Cash Grabs? In Star Wars??!!

Very cool interview. Would like to see more of this kind of interview. More behind the scenes and background... a lot less Meta (don't get me wrong, I like that too, but a breath of fresh air...) but a glimpse into history and how the local store was involved and remembers the kid in the designer.

And cheape too. With Armada I am over trying to get a Nebbie for EPIC.

Much like the gunboat itself.

Hostile much? Geez. The whole thing is an opinion.

So, like a TIE Bomber or Punisher, but with a cannon? ;)

I do believe there's a thread just for the gunboat somewhere on this forum...

So how bout them podcasts!

Prequels specifically. The X-Wing and TIE Fighter can't be called cash grabs, Star Wars was much too small, and they're actually given screen time beyond 5 seconds, and do stuff beyond fly into the frame to excite idiots who love Star Wars too much.

What about TIE Bomber, B-wing, maybe TIE Interceptor, not to mention AT-ST in TESB.

I'd rather have a bunch of interesting "cash grabs" than creative emptiness like in TFA.

Erm the ATST has a huge part in ROTJ.

Oh man. The X-Wing can't be called a 'Cash Grab'?

"Between 1977 and 1978, Star Wars sold $100 million worth of toys."

All of Star Wars was a 'Cash Grab' from the beginning. Please, count the seconds a TIE Fighter is on the screen and make yourself believe that this matters in any way. And calling me an idiot is hereby noted.

It seems someone doesn't understand what 'cash grab' means.

I don't think it really matters whether or not something is a cash grab, just if it's good or not.

Prequel ships may be cash grabs, and all of their designs are sh*tty CGI dumpster babies. ******* chrome banana and, "HEY GUYS, YOU LIKE STAR WARS HERE IS A TRIPLANE X-WING! LOOK GUYS ITS STAR WARS HE EVEN SAYS S-FOILS IN ATTACK POSITION".

OT ships may also be cash grabs, but they don't suck so it doesn't matter.

Toy Story and Cars also made a lot of money. Yet one is actually good, and the other has Larry the ******* Cable Guy in it.

When expressing your opinion you should start a sentence with "I think" or "In my opinion", that's like elementary school knowledge.

Everything anyone ever says is an opinion, therefore it's fairly worthless to take the moral high ground to try and patronize people into putting 'in my opinion' before or after everything they write. In my opinion.

I don't agree, there are opinions and there are facts.

Example of a fact: Some people like to word their opinions like they were facts which makes them look like assholes.
