Defective dice from core?

By Krynn007, in X-Wing

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this from their dice.

One of my red dice looks to have two crits on it.

I can't post pics so best I can do is describe it.

A hit is a solid white dot on dice

The crit has a red center.

Well my defective dice has one crit as normal. But it has another hit but a small red center. Not as big as a normal crit, but it's definitely noticeable

Just wondering how rare this is.

Normally I just grab whatever amount of dice I'll need for a game.

If I do get the funky dice I count the second crit as as a hit since you can still tell the difference as it's a smaller red dot than the crit but still, kind of bugs me

Sounds like maybe the paint just came off on a hit side. Does that dice have the correct number of hits on it?

If it truly had a extra crit side, I'd contact FFG's CS and see if they can't send you a new die, assuming you actually care about getting it replaced.

*Gets some red paint to create some "Special Boba Crew Dice"

I think my green dice are defective. They never seem to have any evades on them.

We need moar special dice!

After about 10 games or so. I'm coming to the conclusion that my old core dice are much much better and luckier than my new core dice.

I noticed that to! the new ones are worse!

I did a salt test of mine and 7 of my 12 green dice strongly tended towards a blank, not random at all. My red Armada dice were nearly that bad too.

One of my red die has no paint on one of the hit symbols

Thankfully I have spares

Counting the "phoney" Crit all hits are there.

And no paint not coming off.

Looks as though the red dot in the center of the hit is raised and I don't think it's a bad paint job because it's too good of a circle.

When you see it come up it clearly looks different from the way it should, so I always count it as a hit if it turns out in one of our games.

Still has the correct amount of hits this way

Seeing as the salt test has been proven to not work on 8 sided dice because of their facings, I'd say you might need to go do another test.

This post made me cry a little inside.

I've seen exactly what OP is talking about. I've got a friend who's got a die just like that. A tiny red dot in the middle of one of the hits. When you look at it you see it's obviously a hit, but at first glance it could be mistaken.

Hmm... I'd better check my dice individually. This might be something you have on your dice and not notice.
