Wound/Strain Threshold Question

By ninjahX, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

So I might just be overthinking this, but in the rules it says "when player exceed his would/strain threshold..." what exactly do they mean?

ie I have a a threshold of 12 and go to 0 did i exceed it or do I have to go in the negatives to exceed it?

Thank you in advance :)

You count up when taking damage, not down.

So being at 0 Wounds or 0 Strain means you're completely healthy and fine. When you take damage, you increase your Wounds, so 6 unsoaked damage would bring you up from 0 Wounds to 6 Wounds; and then healing 5 Wounds would bring you from 6 Wounds to 1 Wounds.

much obliged

Exceed means "go past." 12 is not in excess of 12 :) 13+ is in excess of 12.

So 1) make sure you're starting at 0 wounds (meaning you have no wounds) and counting up to the threshold; and 2) once you exceed (not simply meet) the threshold, you are unconscious.

Yea we were counting down, but one of the players argued that counting from 0 to 13 is TECHNICALLY 14 when you count the 0 which exceeds 13 so they sided with him

I knew I wasn't misinterpreting it

another way of thinking of it is instead of saying "I have 13 hitpoints" and count down, it's "I don't have any wounds yet", and start with 0. Then, as you take damage, the number of wounds you've sustained goes up.

If your threshold is 13, once you've taken your 14th wound, you're incapacitated until you're brought below your threshhold (like someone gives you a stimpack), and you also take one critical injury.
