B-Wing Madness: Rieekan Style

I think it represents a good evolution over your previous lists (which I've followed on the forums and on your blog for a while). I really like the idea of the torpedo frigate with Ordinance Experts. It keeps the ship cheap, while also creating a lot of useful threat out of it. It's also a ship that goes very well with Rieekan and which can potentially be thrown away without a huge threat to your MOV. The objectives give you some pretty significant advantages, which can be nice on a build that intends to go second.

Against a fleet like Clon's, have you playtested enough to see if you can effectively block off the Demolisher with the MC30, get a decent counterstrike back, and then finish it off with a shot from the MC80? I think one of the keys to that match-up is to avoid losing the MC80 to a first player double-tap. Even with Rieekan, no one wants to play without a ship that big for several turns.

Clon was definitely in the back of my mind when I made this. Demolisher in general is a nightmare without initiative. I've normally just had a high bid, but I'm starting to get weary of bidding for first player as the bids get higher and higher. I have not had any playtesting time with this, so it's all theory. My plan is a staggered formation to force Demolisher into bad choices. The general idea is to lead with Yavaris , and have the MC30 offset behind. The idea is to be far back enough to threaten Demolisher after its attack run, while Yavaris just brings to pain to the rest of the Imperial fleet before going down. The MC80 would be staggered behind the MC30 to offer supporting fire and ensure that bastard goes down. I go into games expecting the lose Yavaris anyway. Rieekan just allows me to get in one last punch. I completely agree that losing the MC80 means defeat for the fleet overall.

Just remember Rieekan only effects named squadrons, not generics.

Aye he knows, Wedge will be a pain in the arse whilst the B's go free to do their business. Poor Wedge.

I've been doing Rieekan, mc80, 2 neb and fighters to good effect. Scurggs instead of Bees.

Yeah, H6s and Salvation in place of the MC30 are both good options. Going forward my H6 list will be with the usual Garm and a good sized bid while my B-Wings will be under Rieekan. That way the two list play different enough that both sets of models get used. You'll be seeing my H6 list soon enough in the team tourney :)
