So when ARE we allowed to talk about these ships taking forever on the boat?

By Jaden Ckast, in X-Wing

Just as the topic says, is this wave officially taking too long now and can we officially complain about the length of time it's been? Don't want to upset anyone by talking about it too early God forbid. Anyways March is rapidly approaching, will we see these mythical ships anytime soon?!

Haha negative. Just wondering when IS the appropriate time to start talking about it? A couple weeks after its overdue? Certain people seem to not like it when it's talked about too early so I'm wondering when is the proper time?

You can talk about it if you want to. Go ahead.

March is still Q1. Not "late" until April.

Even then, the Merchant Ship Gandalf is always on time delivering our space ships.

When did that date get updated? According to their preview article it said "arriving at retailers in 4th quarter 2015". Now it's coming close to the end of 1st quarter 2016.

Id say it is appropriate to be legitimately complaining that we cant spend our money on ships that should be available at retailers!

LOL!

Another thing to think about; the ship may already be in port awaiting its turn to offload. Not sure where they're supposed to dock but most of the larger west coast ports are nearing max capacity. Wave 8 might be "here" but still "on the boat".

Has anyone heard anything from retailers? What's the word on the street around here?

Our LGS' are telling us each week when it is not on their order for the week. Not hitting this week.

It was a part of the original announcement for Wave 8 from the CEO on video. He said Q4 2015 or worst case Q1 2016.

You don't talk about wave eight club

I haven't saved up enough money for the Ghost anyways. Couple weeks though....

Frankly, FFG should stop announcing dates altogether. They are never accurate and only serves to annoy people when they are inevitably past projection. Don't update "on the boat" and claim it is "usually 4 to 6 weeks" when it is NEVER 4-6 weeks.

Petition to rename it to the W8 Club.

First. World. Problems.

First. World. Problems.

Since these are coming from China, that sort of makes it an inter-world problem ;)

First. World. Problems.

But I preordered back in October. This is getting a little out of hand.

Mate this entire forum is a first world problem. Relax :P

Exactly, I feel the same way. Something that is interesting and I could be wrong but just recently I special ordered a Toyota 4Runner. Production took awhile but the dealer kept me up to date on everything and called me the day it was shipped. From that day to when I received my 4Runner and drove it off the lot was 6 weeks 3 days. Soooooo do cars go through different customs then other shipments? Is it a less rigorous process? Just spitballing here but you would think little plastic toys would get here a lot faster than a freaking car. Just sayin.

As long as it made you laugh, I have done my job. ;) (Seriously though, we are all cheesed about it. I cancelled my pre-order with CSI 2 days ago so I could use the money to build a new PC. --- Yes, i DID order enough to get a CPU, CASE, & Memory!)

It's Wave 8. The 8 is an infinity symbol. You know what that means...

Do not despair, it will be on sale next month.

They actually do. Car deliveries from ships actually have dedicated teams to sort through them. It's often more rigorous, but it is an accelerated process compared to bulk freight. Vehicle deliveries get their own ships, and often even their own berths at docks, with special inspection yards ready and set up. Specially ordered units often go right from the inspection yard to the dealer or customer.

Bulk shipments of little plastic toys go through the same inspection, sorting, and unloading process as the other 10,000-20,000 containers on that ship. Between that and transport to redistribution centers, on to warehouses for breakdown and fulfillment sorting, before eventually finding their way to a retail shelf, it does indeed take a hell of a lot longer.
