Multiple ion tokens....why bother?

By Velvetelvis, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Why does ion bomb give the target two ion tokens?

It sais on the rule card that after the ship with ion tokens makes the one straight, you remove all ion tokens.

Was there some FAQ that changed it to only remove one ion token per turn?

Is there some other reason?

Large base ships require 2 Ion Tokens to be "Ionized". So the Ion Bomb is able to get everything........

And, since you are probably going to ask, if a large base ship only receives 1 Ion Token, it does stay until they receive a 2nd token for the Ion Effect to happen.

Large ships don't become ionized until they have at least two ion tokens. Ion Bomb (and Ion Pulse Missile, and Conner Net) can ionize a Large ship in one shot rather than two.

You're right that small ships see no additional effect from the second token.

Ah. Thank you fellas.

Also, huge ships suffer energy penalties for each ion token, so more ion tokens have a stronger effect in Epic play.
