Hounds' tooth and the table's edge

By FourDogsInaHorseSuit, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Title says it all: If a hound's tooth yv-666 is flown off the board, can it still deploy the pup?

No per the faq discussing deploying docked ships. If the carrier is destroyed all ships deploy and take a face down damage but if the carrier flees the docked ships are destroyed.

I can't find this in the FAQ or RRG, not even in the huge ship rules. Please help me find it.

On page 11 of the Rules Reference for Fleeing the Battlefield:

When a ship flees the battlefield, it is
immediately destroyed and removed from the
play area. It cannot resolve any of its Ship or
Upgrade card abilities.
Although I thought there was something more specific somewhere.

Yeah I've heard the 'it takes one damage card' thing before but I can't actually find it in the FAQ or RRG. Is it in the Houndstooth perhaps?

I really wish FFG would either make PDF's of all the ship rules...

That is specific enough. No Pup.

The "one damage" thing is from the Gozanti ( and probably the Ghost ). The Hound's Tooth is different because the only way you can deploy the Pup is if the Hound's Tooth is destroyed.

The Hound's Tooth rules specifically exclude fleeing the battle as a condition for deploying the Pup:

"When the YV-666 equipped with the Hound's Tooth Upgrade card is destroyed (but has not fled the battlefield), it may deploy the Nashtah Pup before it is removed from the play area."

And it makes sense, since there's no set position for a ship that has fled the battlefield to be in. And therefore nowhere to place a maneuver template to deploy a ship.

The "one damage" thing is from the Gozanti ( and probably the Ghost ).

Ahh, and the FAQ hasn't been updated yet with the Gonz rules. Thanks :)

But again I wish they'd make some sort of PDF with all the ship rules in it.

I'm pretty sure that it's in the Hounds Tooth rules insert (that I don't have handy) that when the Hounds Tooth has been destroyed, but has not fled the battlefield, you may deploy the Nashtah Pup.

Edit: reading is hard I was correct the first time but the pup isn't technically docked.

FAQ v32 has it in bright red on page 2. It's copies from the gonzati stuff by the look of it.

Which is why it is specifically covered by it's very own rules insert.
