Elusiveness question

By delenmast, in X-Wing

Is there a place for this card in any build? I read, I like it, and I can never pull the trigger on it.

But my question is why? It's not over-costed. Certain ships do not care to much about the single stress token.

Take a Brobot build for instance...

ig-88c (I mean)

elusiveness

mangler cannon

fcs

stealth device

"hotshot" blaster

ig-2000

with the free evade token, you would think this ship would be really hard to take down.

Am i just missing something obvious?

Thanks for any help and

Thanks for reading

elusiveness is something like gain a stress and reroll an attack die when defending.

For 2 points you can reroll 1 attack die and possibly making it a hit or crit still. It is a bad card for its cost.

Ig88 b does nothing for free evade tokens. If a high agility ship benefited from stress (reroll a green die or spend it as focus) it would be better. Right now it doesnt combo well, is not effective, and handicaps your manuever next turn.

I've used it a couple times on Ibstisam coupled with a sensor jammer for fun in some casual matches. It throws some folks off, but with the few greens the b-wing has it makes they super predictable if you ever want to use elusiveness more than once in a row.

Ibtisam is the closest.

The only build I've ever been able to think of for this card is:

42 Keyan w/ Elusive, SensorJ, HLC.

It's not the kind of ship you can ignore, but if you shoot at it the return fire gets worse. Keyan's a-ragin'.

But that's a lot of points for a B-wing.

Ibtisam with Elusiveness and Sensor Jammer is bloody annoying to kill.

You could theoretically put it on an A-Wing along with Wired... that might be kinda neat. Farlander could make use of the token as well I suppose.

If you had a fat Falcon with title, C-3PO, and R2-Dcrew and you knew for sure that you were facing another turret -specifically a Decimator- you'd be best off with elusiveness and Countermeasures. The biggest, fattest, most beautiful Falcon there is.

Pop Countermeasures if needed at the start of the combat phase, take an evade action, pop elusiveness, 'guess' zero for C-3PO or one on your 2 agility dice if you really need to stop a huge hit, spend the evade token, and don't forget to regen a shield with R2-Dcrew in the end phase.

Countermeasures also screws over ATC Vader.

TLT counter right there

Well, Elusiveness will only proc once per combat, so TLT are still irksome.

But with Sensor Jammer and her pilot ability, that's a surprising amount of mitigation for a B-Wing :)

In your IG example, VI is an auto include because PS 6 just sucks the big one.

Crackshot/Glitterstim HLC Brobots is better than VI/Damps, or at the very least, for taking on Aces (and burning up Stresshogs).

On a ship with the Evade action you are almost always going to be better off spending the extra point for PTL. The only real advantage Elusiveness has is that you don't need to take the stress until you know that you are actually being attacked. With PTL you get a stress for a 100% chance of canceling a hit. Elusiveness costs a stress for a 50% chance of canceling a hit ( 25% if the attacker has a focus token ).

Outside of a couple builds with specific pilots that have a strong synergy with it, Elusiveness is a fairly poor choice for an EPT.
