Dual Phantoms For Store Championships

By CaptainAl, in X-Wing Squad Lists

This is the list I'm going to run for store championships. Just want to see what you think. Feel free to give advice on changes i should make.

Whisper

Veteran Instincts 1

Gunner 5

Fire Control system 2

Adv Cloaking Device 4

Echo

Veteran Instincts 1

Gunner 5

Fire Control system 2

Adv Cloaking Device 4

Academy Pilot

Total: 98

I really like Sensor Jammer and Agent Kallus on Whisper. That should open up enough points to upgrade to Wampa and still get 1 point initiative bid.

The problem is i don't have Wampa. Also fire control system increases accuracy with gunner and i want to make this list as lethal as possible.

double buzzsaws.

I have no advice on what to change, but remember to fly smart and a shot not taken is better than a shot dodged.

If I played you I'd be terrified.

I think the day of the double phantom terror has long since passed. However, it will be fun list to play (except when you make a bone-headed move and get a ship killed :P )

When you are flying well though, it will not be a fun list to play against.

Personally though, I would much prefer some sort of anti-turret protection on one of the phantoms. I would change Echo's build since he is the more vulnerable to turrets.

Echo w/ VI, sensor jammer, recon spec & ACD is the same cost. Or:

Echo w/ lone wolf, sensor jammer, rebel captive & ACD = 43. Or:

Echo w/ push the limit, advanced sensors, recon specialist & ACD = 43 (WARNING: very difficult to fly well! Very experienced phantom users only! ;) )

Note on Agent Kallus: you don't need him on Echo. You have Whisper to kill other aces. Echo's main weakness is turrets, not other aces (you avoid their damage by arc-dodging or blocking)

Note on Academy Pilot: virtually useless, but if your opponent shoots at him, at least he's not shooting at a phantom! :)

I would like to think that I'm good at piloting the phantom. why does Echo die faster? is it because he doesn't get the focus when he cloaks?

Generally speaking, yeah.

So i made some changes to the list recently. Also do you think this list has a chance during the current meta?

Whisper

VI

Gunner

Fire control system

ACD

Echo

VI

Recon Spec

Sensor Jammer

ACD

Academy Pilot

Total 98 points

Is the blocker worth the almost automatic loss of 12 points though? Try running the list without the TIE and see how you like it.

I've run Whisper + VI + ACD + FCS with Echo + VI + ACD + FCS and Omicron Group Pilot w/ Vader crew. It does murdery things. Or it melts. Always one of those two. Its biggest weakness is stress mechanics that are self inflicted (cancelling crits w/ imperial Kath, rebel captive, etc).

How much good stuff would you have to strip from the Phantoms to get Epsilon Ace as your 3rd ship?

Epsilon Ace 17

Whisper, VI, FCS, Kallus, ACD 41

Echo, Decoy, FCS, Recon Specialist, ACD 41

1 point bid, crazy-high PS (unless the opponent spends some time shooting at something that's not a Phantom), max offense.

My god that's awesome! Haha, I love it. That's just mean...

I would want more of a PS bid since once Epsilon dies you're duking it out at native PS on Echo and 9 on Whisper and obviously you want to shoot first with your ACDs. But holy cow would that cause some nerd-rage! You'd need to be on the ball with keeping your decoys together though and invariably this will lead to some predictability.

What do you think of going double Buzzsaws?
