Future ally/villain packs?

By Lord Vapor, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hi All,

I was just wondering if we will eventually see ally/villain packs of forces already in the core/expansion sets.

FFG produced Stormtroopers, so what do you think might come up next, if at all?

Heavy Weapons Stormtroopers? Tuskens? Snowtroopers? Or just new forces?

I hope so. I keep hearing there is a skirmish game you can play with Imperial Assault pieces, but I dont see and of the basic pieces available for sale, so its probably just a rumor.

You get there Squads of Stormtroopers, two squads of Royal Guards, 2 EWeb guys, three Probe Droids, an ATST, three officers all for the Empire player which alone are valued at over a hundred bucks alone. Plus a bunch of decent Rebel solo guys, and a couple Scum baddies.

Plus it comes with a cool campaign you can play through if you want, which is nice. ;) It's all in perspective.

It would be nice to have expansions of core and boxes miniatures (Heavy Stormtroopers, HK's, Royal Guards...). On this game we are getting boxes with rebel heroes and villains troops, then on blisters we get troopers for rebels (Rebel Troopers, Saboteurs, Wookies, Echo Base Troopers) and heroes for Villains (only two troopers sold as blisters, more stormtroopers and Hired Guns).

Empire and Scum players don't have so many options to expand his front line troops without anything except an expansion box (twin shadows for Heavy Stormtroopers and Tusken Raiders; Core for Royal Guards, Probe droids and e-webs; Return to Hoth for Snowtroopers, HK's and Tank).

So in my opinion Villain players need to buy or get from friends miniatures from different boxes to be competitive on skirmish and Rebel troopers can get them from blisters. This is unfair.

You think they would. As much clamoring as people are making about FFG wanting to support LGS and "needing" to keep the game going; youd think theyd want to take our money.

To be fair, thinking about it from a product design standpoint, a 'mini' box set that acted as a tiny campaign for cinematic play, and a skirmish starter, I would still buy even if I didn't need it.

As an example a 'ISB' box that had a mini three mission campaign, a few tiles, a skirmish map, agenda set, skirmish upgrades, a full 15 command cards and then like an alternate officer fig trio, the Stormtrooper pack, a squad of original Troopers, a villain ISB agent, a 'Informant' Scum/Empire multifaction unique or something, like the one in ANH, and all for something like thirty bucks. I'd be way down. With that you'd have all the troopers and officers you could ever need for skirmish when combined with a regular core set, but still get a full starter skirmish army out of it, and have something to add to campaign.

I personally would like to see everything in the core set sold as expansions, like they do with X-Wing and Armada. Other than hero's perhaps, I suppose Luke and Vader aren't required either.

But it would be nice to get extra E-Web, Officers, Royal Guards and Trandoshans without having to buy another core set.
