200pt non epic aces

By DarthBatman, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Playing a 200 pt game later this week - no epic ships so I'm thinking of loading up the aces.

The list in working with:

Vader, VI, cluster missiles, title, stealth, advance targeting computer

Rexlar brath (auto correct almost made it "rear breath") lol - ptl, cluster missiles, ion cannon tie/d title, engine upgrade

Whisper, VI, ACD, FCS, recon spec

Turr phenir, VI, title, auto thrusters, stealth device

Soontir fel, PTL, auto thrusters, stealth device, title

5 aces. Any thoughts?

Try Hwk 290. In a 200 pts game they can be very good. A Moldy Crow can be very attractive.

I ran a 150 point Aces list yesterday that did very well. I proxied the new x7 title for the Defender

Vader, VI, Title, ATC, EU

Rexler Brath, x7 title, Juke, TIE Mk2

Carnor Jax, PTL, Autothrusters,

Tetran Cowal Juke

Mauler Mithel Juke

My opponent was running a full Fat Han and 4 Rookie X-wings.

The trick in this list is the combination of Carnar Jax and multiple Juking ships to force damage through your opponent's defenses and it worked very well. The defender flew like a dream, x7 and Juke are a natural combo and it still leaves your action free to either Focus to Evade depending on the circumstances.

I took down the Falon in Turn 3 with focussed fire. and then it was just a case of ripping the Rookies apart. I only lost Tetran Cowal although Brath was down to his last hull point by the time the game ended (largely due to bumping a blocker on turn 4 which lost him his actions).

Overall the list worked really well although I think I would have liked Phennir better than Cowall. With 200 points to spend you could add Whipser to my list and still have a few points to play with.

Looking at Some changes.

Considering; removing turr phenar in favor of a lambda (omicron piolet) + palp.

I'm wondering if that change is worth it? I know the emprah can be a huge fleet booster but does he make up for the removal of a ps9 ship that can move, action, shoot, then move again, that also has pretty good defensive abilities?

Thoughts?

Yea that was my thought as well. The orginal list was built to be literally everything going everywhere and arc dodging etc like a Bawz. The palpmobile adds a nice force multiplier but is so slow I was worried it would hinder the overall idea of the list.

So just finished the game. Played against a rebel ace list - had some X wings a k wing, a wing and interceptor. He had Horton on the Y, Biggs in the xwing (I think)

Anyway the game was .... Not close. Turn 1 was fly up, 2 was get range and we both exchanged fire - I dodged pretty much everything, Vader lost a shield, and I dinged a few off of his. Turn 3 I was able to get behind him and from there it was 3 turns to game over. I managed to either keep range 1 on the Y wing or out of range, and was popping his ships like darts on balloons.

End of the game Vader had taken 1 hull point, and that was it, and he had nothing left. The phantom was scary... The ceptors were also just .... Wow. Being able to arc dodge like crazy and roll 4+ dodge dice plus evade tokens was pretty much a don't even bother shooting them.

Anyway I was really impressed with everything. The only ship that didn't do much was the defender, but mainly because I over estimated its target and drove past it needing 2 turns to get back into the fight. It did put a ion on the Y wing setting it up for both soontir,, Vader and the phantom to take it out.

Good game for the imperials. Sucky for the rebels.
