So, no interest in playing scum but really need 6 crackshot and don't want to pay some of the stupid prices people are offering me for just cards...
So, I thought I could buy 6 Khiraxz, take out the crackshot and try and trade off the rest - reckon I have a good chance of this or am I being foolish and will be stuck with a load of ships I won't use?

If you play Epic, Escalation, or other high-point games, then you're fine.

Anyway, I think the YV+5 K is the best option. Unless you're going epic that makes the most sense.

Because "one of everything" is what many people aspire to. Why not have a YV-666 if you don't already? The model is neat. There are other cards in there that are neat.
Did I mention the model is neat?

I bought 4 just for the Crack Shots. Seemed like getting the whole ship for $9.50 was a better deal than getting just Crack Shot for $8. I figure if I can trade the Predators, Glitterstims, or ships for pretty much anything I'll be ahead.

you can run Juke + relay Omega L, 4 crackblacks and a Wampa very effectively

Depends how long you can wait, Imperial Veterans is going to come with Crack Shot and you might want at least one of those...
Equally, you could probably save money buying six Kihraxz and reselling the bits you don't want. Glitterstim and Predator probably fetch good ebay money.
If you did change your mind on not playing Scum, the 4 Ace list is fun to play in casual games. Not a common one either which seems to be hard to find these days.
Yeah why not - 6 crackshots, 6 predators, 6 glitterstims - you can give the rest to a friend/relative/kid you like to start off and still come ahead compared to buying singles.

If you want/need the upgrade cards then I guess you do what you have to do.

If you have to have the crack then that sounds reasonable since buying the cards seperate is just shy of the full montey anyway and you can fleabay the rest or just sell em to me.

I'd second this. I was struggling with the same decision about buy a bunch for crackshot. Then I tried running some swarms in general (TIE, that is), and found that flying them and not bumping in general takes a good amount of practice and thought. So just proxy and get good at flying and decide if you like it before buying. Unless you're already good with the swarm, in which case, purchase away!
As a funny note, I tried piloting a swarm (only 6 TIEs) a couple of weeks ago for the first time. In the second move, I managed to steer Wampa onto an asteroid, and get the crit card that makes your pilot ability useless for the entire game. The timing was comical as not a single shot had even been fired at that point. And I was so looking forward to using Wampa for the first time, as well (not a great first run for Wampa!). That's when I decided to get better with just flying it before purchasing the ships for the Craskshots.
I played tie swarm almost exclusively when the gane first came out so, although I'll be a little rusty I know I can handle six ship swarms
