My Tournaments from the last few weeks

By RPLev, in X-Wing Battle Reports

Hello everyone. I have been placing somewhat decent over the last few weeks. I have been in the top 10, with my most recent tournament being 2nd place.

My most recent, I pulled something crazy. I did 2 Knave and Etahn (EEE build). With Fire Control System I was able to constantly re-roll without causing stress. This allowed me to continue pursuing the Empire. In the 2nd to final match I scored a Perfect Victory. Not a single E-Wing took a point of damage. I was up against that VT-49 decimator build I saw in the Tournaments. This was possible thanks to Etahn's insanely lucky roll. I rolled 3 crits and 1 hit. I rolled the hit to a crit. This resulted in the crit card that says the hard turns are red, the blinded pilot, damaged cockpit and weapons failure. Because I shot first, the Decimator couldn't fire back at my E-Wings.

My 2 Knave's proceeded to destroy the Decimator that turn. My opponent called it game by flying his ship off the board.

It is because of this match I decided to revive my old idea in the forums. I think E-Wings can make a return and dominate in the tournaments with a little love. You can see that here if you wish.

A few Tournaments before this, I was running my XXE build.. Poe, Etahn and a Blue Squadron. I placed 5th in that one. I stayed on the outside and baited my opponent in every single match. Seems to be the only thing I can do against current metas. I lost Poe at least 3 times that Tournament. Not a lot I could do. They got lucky crits and or rolls.

So my report for these weeks is as a Rebel, you just need to fly 4 Ships to make it to 1st. While 3 can do it some of the time, there are things against you like bad dice rolls, and all of that. There is also a rise in Crack Shot Tie Fighter Spam. I find this to be too cheesy of a build. I think Crack Shot does need to be put to 2 or 3 points to prevent spam of this level.

Preventing Robots from using Glitterstim would at least give us a fighting chance too. They are Robots, not Organic. It would make sense.

Until some sort of balance like that happens, the Rebels don't roll enough defense dice, and don't have the hit points to deal with that level of Crack Shot spam.

Like my Tournament opponents said "The only good builds in the tournaments suck the fun out of the game". I am inclined to agree based on the new Metas I am starting to see. That is all I have. Feel free to ask questions. I tried to keep this post as short as possible.
