Munitions failure question.

By Fuzzywookie, in X-Wing

So on Friday I played a game. Scum Y-Wing wing w/ btla4, til, unhinged Astro, and bomb load out. He he. Bomb load out. Cuz it's free. Anyways. I get munitions failure card. Can I get rid of bomb load out? I said yes. Others said no. ?????

No. Bomb Loadout is not a secondary weapon, it just happens to sit in a Torpedo slot. Secondary weapons are things which say 'Attack:' on them. Mostly they sit in missile, torpedo, cannon and turret slots, but there is at least one exception (Hot Shot Blaster).

With the new deck, there would be no question! But yes thespaceinvader is correct. A secondary weapon is any card that has the Attack: header. The slot it occupies does not matter.

Your Munitions Failure could even hit something in the illicit slot and in the future could hit things in other slots as well.

People still use the old deck? Bleh.

Thanks for the info pilots. And yes Fuzzy and fuzzy Jr. Only has 1 new core set. Jr. Gets the new set I'm stuck with old. Kinder gets first dibs on cards etc.

The old deck is indeed "bleh". But since Organized Play's most recent ruling, there are very few lists (mostly those that lean heavily on secondary weapons) that are better off using the new deck.

I would argue otherwise. If you have secondary weapons or aces you cannot afford to run the old deck if you have any choice at all. Munitions failure and injured pilot are far too crippling for most of those squads to risk even a 2/33 chance of for example soontir being a 34/35 point stupid ps 9 generic.

I agree on secondary weapons, but I think "aces" really just means Soontir and Carnor. And even there it's a questionable case: he hates the old Injured Pilot, but the new Major Explosion and Major Hull Breach are both really bad for him.

Other aces, though, aren't as worried about the deck. Whisper is protected by shields, Poe has shields and IA and often regen, etc. and in those cases, I'd almost rather have the old deck and its chance of drawing dead to a Munitions Failure or the "meh" Minor Explosion.
