I have recently started to play Scum ships and that led me to start wondering what could make for a good Epic ship for that faction. I came up with what I think would be a good idea for a GR-75/Gozanti-type Epic ship, as well as a way to introduce two "new ships" into the Scum faction.

For those of you that are familiar with the X-Wing novels (I am assuming most people here), Wrath Squadron of the Rebel Alliance did a lengthy undercover mission posing as a band of space pirates/mercs known as the Hawk-Bats. They flew captured TIE Fighters and Interceptors, and used a Xiytiar -class transport as a carrier/support craft. So basically use these three ships as the Epic box, with the Transport being the Epic ship and one of each of the TIEs as its escort.

Currently the Scum faction shares 3 ships (Y-Wing, HWK, Z-95) with the Rebels, while sharing only 1 ship with the Empire (Firespray), so this would even it out to 3 ships a piece. Players would get to use TIE Fighters and TIE Interceptors, two of the most popular ships, in two different factions, increasing the size and diversity of their Scum collection without having to pay much extra since I would want to put 2 dials for each of the TIEs in the Epic box.

I find the idea of this expansion also hilarious in a "inside joke" type of way, since the pilots are undercover Rebels, flying Imperial ships, in the Scum faction. Also the idea of "Kettch" (aka Wedge Antilles posing as an Ewok pilot) potentially facing off Rebel Wedge to be funny as well.

well the GR-75 and the Gozanti class both started life as standard transporters.

The company that built the GR-75 made them available to the rebel alliance at cost so it became there signature transporter, but it was still very common as a bulk passenger & cargo haler. so there should be a Scum Fraction card for this at some point. (I can point to several EU scum ships but I understand there non cannon) also theres several parked at moss'icly in episode 4.

The Gozanti is a different as it was developed to order for the HUT's as a armed Transport. again there are a few scattered about various star-ports through the films and books.

the total owned by the Empire is 3 (all owned and converted at the orders of the imperial inquisitor) the rest of these ships are owned by versus merchant and pirate fractions, as by the RPG and versus books both EU and not. so there should also be scum versions of that ship with the option to convert it back into it's original gunboat / mass transport designations.

but the scums best chance for a frigate of there own lays with the syndicate and 'the Wild Kardd' a converted liner come warship.

I like this idea. Maybe just make it Tie fighters only(not interceptors) and give us a new sculpt like the one from the past episode of Rebels that has the wings cut back. Give it a Tie only title/mod that makes the hard 1 turns red, but all straights green. It would add a ship to both factions and give us 2 new ships at the same time. "Historically" the Epic ships have come with one fighter not two so I doubt they would put a second in the box. But if they did, I would want the second ship to be the Fang Fighter from Rebels. The Mandalorian fighter that could be Scum/Empire.

I'm sorry to say that I dislike the idea that Ties could be flown by others then Imperial pilots.

Just cook up a campaign or house rule it that way.

Until there is no Scum Epic ship: take a CR90, they were used by pirates as well.

I am also not in love with the idea of Scum getting Tie fighters, but since those yellow, chopped wing Ties appeared in Rebels in a non Empire faction in SW Rebels, it's canon now. And since I'm betting we will be getting more ships from the new canon and less from the EU from now on, I'm pretty sure those yellow Ties will show up in a future wave. And since I play Empire most, and I am tired of every Empire expansion being some Tie variant, I would be OK with Scum getting those ties. Like the OP said, there is only 1 Empire/Scum ship but 3 Rebel/Scum(Rebel Scum...see what I did there?)

Plus, with the sole exception of the Firespray, it would be nice if Imperials got to have at least one thing that they didn't give to everyone else. We've already lost swarms and bombs, so I'm fine with some Imperial sandbagging.

I just hope if they ever release a jabba crew card it's not Huge Only. I only go up to large ships on a 3x3 table and refrain from epic games. I might be a vocal minority here though.

Seems a bit flimsy.

As much fun it is to say "Epic scum," not too sure if there'll be many more huge ships in X-Wing's future. FFG probably wants X-Wing to stay as a dog-fighting game, Armada for fleet battles, Imperial Assault for skirmish battles and Rebellion for galactic battles.

Nah, you're not alone, I also hope we see Jabba in normal games. After all we see the Emperor, Vader, Luke, Han, unfortunately Leia's ability isn't that great at 100 points, but you can use her if you want. If we get all those faction leaders in regular play, why not Jabba? Two crew slots for sure, so only one ship could carry him right now, but that can always change. Side note, we might also see Xizor and Guri crews at some point, and IG-88 is missing as well.

Personally I'm hoping for Jabba's ship, the Star Jewel, first, and after that ya'll can have your ugly Action whatevers. Maaaybe a Ghozanti, but hopefully it would be really different than the Imperial version.

About yellow TIEs, not Rebel && not Imperial != Scum. They were basically anti-Scum, so no, they don't fit at all.

The Scum Gozanti cruiser is the first introduced version of the class which first appears in TPM movies - It looks different from the Imperial version (which is a conversion to make it a transport/escort carrier), and also fights differently. The Kryat's Honor is the ship seen in TPM and is armed with cannons - it was a Q-ship.

The C-ROC Gozanti from rebels also looks different from the Imperial version. It's also supposedly armed with cannons and is an armed freighter.

Well while we wait if anyone has a GR-75 and wants to fly Scum in epic I have a conversion kit for that. Check link in my sig ( shameless plug ).

May I ask where that info comes from? Especially the "total owned by the Empire is 3" comment. If nothing else while there havent been more than. 3 on screen at once, they have been shown in so many different places doing different things (not to mention the ones stolen or damaged) in rebels that those three would have to get around more than the heroes.

I haven't read the Rise of the Empire anthology yet but is its information from there, perhaps that's the origin and the design was popular enough the empire put it into mass production?

Maybe there were 3 prototypes before full production. Unless the tender failed I can't see the Empire only having 3 (granted smallish ships with hyperdrive were not popular with imperial doctrine). Then again I believe there were imperial freight gozantis in rebels that they hit.

Epic scum ship with a Scyk/Star Viper fix

A Hutt freighter which would work as an epic Scum ship. It doesn't have any specific class model name but it's just referred to as Borvo the Hutt's freighter.

In Legends, the ship was operated by the Hutt crime lord Borvo and his organization, the Nal Raka Criminal Empire, during the time of the Trade Federation's occupation of Naboo. The ship was first seen in the game Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo. Despite the ship not appearing in any media set after Battle for Naboo, it's possible it could've seen use around the time of the Galactic Civil War as Borvo was still active by then.

The ship appeared to have two laser cannons mounted on either of its sides and one underneath. The front half of the ship could also detach when damaged or in need of a fast escape.
