Two /FO and a....???

By Mezegis, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hello,

/FO fighters are pretty non-existent in my area, so I'm planning on showing everyone their power in some upcoming tournaments. Reviewing the pilots, Omega Leader is the best, and I feel Zeta Leader #2. This assessment seems to be echoed as I've seen a number of other people flying these two with a defender.

I've tossed together a number of lists with them as the base, but am having a hard time deciding which is better and thus I turn to you for guidance and thoughts.

#1:

Omega Leader with Juke and Relay

Zeta Leader with Predator and Relay

Palpatine shuttle with Sensor Jammer

Wampa

#2:

Omega Leader with Juke and Relay

Zeta Leader with Predator and Relay

Oicunn with Predator and either Mara Jade or Rebel captive

#3:

Omega Leader with Juke and Relay

Zeta Leader with Predator and Relay

Brath with Predator, HLC, and TIE MkII engines

#4:

Omega Leader with Juke, Relay, and Stealth Device

Zeta Leader with Predator and Relay

3x Black Squadrons with Crack shot

Each one does things a little different, which has lead to my indecision. #1 brings the emperor and Wampa trickery. #2 adds an element of control with a stress inducement option, and a decimator that gets up in their grill and serves as a giant distraction from the two aces. #3 has served people well, but has the fewest HP. #4 has the largest # of ships, and therefore can handle attrition a bit better than the others.

I have flown all 4 options a few times, and done well with all of them. However most of the lists I faced were just casual match ups and so I'm not sure they give me a true understanding of how they would handle the stronger lists of a tournament.

Thanks for reading!

Roll a D4 :) my preference is 3 but only because I'm a defender junky at the moment. Also, it looks weird flying FOs with LNs.

If you go with #3, I do not recommend dropping the hull upgrade off of Brath. He does not need TIE mk 2 as much as more durability. Extra greens don't matter much when your ship is dead :P

So, Biophysical's build seems best:

Rexler w/ pred, HLC & hull = 50

OL w/ juke & comm relay = 26

ZL w/ wired & comm relay (or hull) = 24

100

Your 1st and 4th lists are probably fine as is. I don't think your 2nd list will work well at all, imho.

May I ask why you think #2 will not work well? Not a huge fan of wired, it seems every time I have taken it I either reroll into a focus or blank, so it doesn't help overall.

I hear ya on wired-----similar things have happened to me, but I haven't used it enough to say I hate it.

The problem I see with list 2 is that all of your ships are weak against the same thing: swarms. 6+ enemy ships will steamroll that list. Personally, I don't like building a list that has a glaringly bad matchup, but YMMV I guess.

I hear you on the swarm part, it's why I have run it more with Mara Jade than Recon Spec, to limit the K turns. My question is, what doesn't have issues with swarms? Every other list has less HP, and green dice fail, so even the defender can die from 2 dice spam.

That has not been my experience. Brath can almost reliably kill 1 TIE per turn of shooting (and with a 2nd or even 3rd ship shooting, it becomes pretty reliable---especially since you have higher PS).

if you choose #4 you can drop the SD and drop pred to Juke and get howlrunner in there. with crackshot in place of one of the blacksquads.
