Very nice write up. Congratulations!
Man it takes testicular fortitude to put Fleet Ambush in a list nowadays. I'm glad you had the guts.
Congrats on the win! Also, very good post, and solid pictures.
I have three quick questions after reading it I wanted to kick out based on what you said:
1) Yes, if he had had X-Wings the game may have ended differently. Honestly, probably not though, since the ISD II would've still gotten his second activation, which is all he got anyhow. And then my I and Glad were too far from the Bs to make a difference.
2) While APT would be nice, and I did dearly miss it, I wanted to have the large bid because I think going first with Demo is worth more than APT. I'm not sure what I'd drop to get to it.
3) Obviously I didn't face a Clontrooper build, but I had a deployment plan I was ready to try against it that has had some success in the lab. I want to see if the meta shifts towards his type build, and if so- I might keep my secret for a bit ![]()
Nice write up and congratulations! I like the list. There really is something about running 2 Star Destroyers that is so satisfying. I may take a similar list to one of the next 2 store Championships in my area but we need a bigger turnout. The first one had only 4 players including me and I won with a 2 Star Destroyer list. I am curious how this would do vs a 5 activation list. Were there any swarm lists in the tournament and how many people total?
The Neb B list was the only "swarm" that was there I think. 12 total players.
Steve. Beating up on Southern VA like this... LOL
Good read, thank you.
I think I heard more about Sean's Neb B build on the way home than the Imperial Star Destroyer.
It is very tempting to do one now.
Congratulations on the win, and a nice batrep. I just bought my 2nd ISD, and this is pretty much the build I will try as I am nervous about taking only 2 ships for activation. I personally like Vader or might use Screed to combo with overload pulse on the ISD-2 to tee-up an Avenger ISD-1.
Do you think the bid was essential? I find with the right objective choices going second can be quite advantageous too.
I don't think swapping my Bs to Xs wouldn't have helped much since I would be giving up the potential damage output the Bs have against ships which was key to the list. I was basically killing an ISD per turn with the Bs. I think the anti squadron dice were not in my favor (3 Bs to kill a single Tie fighter).
Stevens setup of Fleet ambush also put me in a tight spot. He saw how my previous opponent had set up and figured a way get a better advantage with the deployment. I had set up obstacle toward my side of the ambush zone instead of on his side witch could have forever his ships to start closer to me. My deployment kind of hurt me in that I started all my ships outside of long range instead of inside. That easily lost me 4 front arc shots to the ISD and potential B wing attacks on the ISD on the first turn.
We had discussed the inclusion of Fleet Ambush in the Neb List after the fact and wether or not it is worth the risk of getting the Bwings into strike range to start or if it would be better/safer to go with Contested Outpost.
Surprisingly it was a fun list to run and definelty made me consider sticking with it for awhile longer.

Gary really did not like facing the Neb list, he said it was down right brutal.
He has nightmares of the B-wing.
Guess what rebel fighters I'm painting first now ![]()
