So I just played my first two games yesterday and must say flying was challenging to say the least.

Are there any good small ship lists for scum besides the 4x TLT?

YV-666, Firespray and Aggressors are all large based ships and are a pain to fly.

Yes I know, practice makes perfect but I think learning with small based ships might work better for now.

I like the scum HWKs. Ran Palob and torkil with N'dru and two pirate Zeds. Lots of fun serrisu and 4 kirazzy whatchacallems are cool. Kavil is an awesome rock to build a squad around. Dabble, you'll find something you like.

Scum large based ships are the coolest around man. They can be funky at first but you'll grow to adore them.

In the mean time I'll second what Estarriol said and add starvipers and z95s to that list. In fact pretty much every scum ship is solid in some roll or another but they are mostly under the radar. The viper in particular is a complete joy to fly. I prefer it to even interceptors and A wings.

You'll find your preference but for me part of why I like scum is their amazing and somewhat unorthodox dials.

N'dru can have a killer alpha strike if you equip him right. A guy at our FLGS uses him with Glitterstim, lonewolf, and cluster missiles for deadly effect. He uses Guri and Talonbane with him. It's not a bad list.

N'dru with glitterstim, lone wolf and cluster missiles is only 25 points. Not too bad.

With these three pilots, you could go with:

Talonbane (Predator, Glitterstim, Engine Upgrade)

Kavil (VI, TLT, Unhinged Astromech, Hull Upgrade)

N'Dru (Lone Wolf, Glitterstim, Cluster Missiles, Hull Upgrade)

But if you want to practice flying with small ships, I'd recommend the following:

Black Sun Enforcer (Autothrusters) x2

Cartel Marauder

Black Sun Ace (Predator)

So 2 StarVipers and 2 Kihraxz, which offer great maneuverability. The build is also very simple; you basically almost always Focus as your action. Almost, because the Barrel Roll on the StarVipers can be very useful... the Enforcer is one of the best blockers in the game. Plus, four ships with three attack dice each can be very solid.

Staying away from large ships for now until I've learned better so firespray is out.

I don't have star vipers yet and only one Kihraxz so I will have to work on getting the other ships.
