Gozanti: A Deadly Behemoth

By That One Guy, in X-Wing

Is there any viable builds with the Gozanti that doesnt use the docking clamps? i often feel when i dont build it as a strict support vessel i feel like i am wasting a cargo slot.

Gozanti-class Cruiser (72)

Gozanti-Class Cruiser (40), Grand Moff Tarkin (6), Construction Droid (3), Dual Laser Turret (5), Gunnery Team (4), Engine Booster (3), Suppressor (6), Automated Protocols (5)

Then I run it with 4 Tie Defenders with TIE/D and ion cannons and some crackshot black squadrens to bring about the paintrain

This amused me to no end, good work, haha!

Who would have thought those carriers were made for running things over...ah this is grand. Here, I liked this so much that I have decided to create you a tribute.

Gozanti-class Cruiser (40)

Rear Admiral Chiraneau (3)

Captain Needa (2)

Backup Shield Generator (3)

Engine Booster (3)

Automated Protocols

56 points of not giving a frag, headed your way fast.

Apply liberal helpings of "Roads? We don't need... roads" and singing "You can go your own wayyyyy, go your own wayhaaay"

Imperial Biggs with teeth.

So tonight I got the chance to run a few Epic games. I decided to put my Raider aside and instead run a build I've been theorizing for a while.

It dominated.

Gozanti Class Cruiser

Title: Supressor or Vector (your choice)

Modification: Automated Protocols

Crew: Rear Admiral Chiraneau, Construction Droid

Team: Engineering Team

Cargo: Docking Clamps, Engine Booster

Hardpoint: Ion Cannon Battery

Wait, Ion Cannon? Not Twin Dorsal Turret?

Yup. Deployed and flown correctly, this ship doesn't need a turret. Use speedy maneuvers out of the gate to get where you need to be, and even if you spend that 1 energy to trigger Engine Boosters you can still gain it back and then some with Engineering Team and your maneuver. Use it to head straight for the fighters that are protecting your opponent's Huge ship. Then use the Ion Battery to trap them, and maneuver accordingly. Steamroll through the opponent's front line. Crush what doesn't get out of the way, engage with support fighters anything that manages to flee. Fly the cruiser like a crazy person. Once it's barreled past the front line, deploy your own ships to deal with their huge ship (in this case, I used Jonus and a Scimitar bomber). If need be, deploy Jonus early to assist the Ion Battery's shots (just know that he'll be much more effective working with the other bombers that launch). Once you get to this point, any extra rounds the Gozanti survives are just gravy. It can be a hard beast to kill too, thanks to the other combo.

Rear Admiral, or any other action, triggers Automated Protocols, which in turn can trigger Construction Droid if necessary. And even though it may take a while to turn around, you can essentially just consider the ship useless (but many players will still be trying to focus it down anyway). And if your opponent has a secondary line? ALL THE BETTER! Do it all again! Over two games I crushed 6-7 fighters, and dealt significant ramming damage to a transport, but never actually lost the Cruiser (2 hull was as close as I got, but by then everything on that side of the board was dead, so I got to take my sweet time gaining back my shields and hull).

So much fun.

Gozanti Class Cruiser

Title: Supressor

Modification: Automated Protocols

Crew: Construction Droid, Grand Moff Tarkin

Team: Sensor Team

Cargo: Backup Shield Generator, Engine Booster?

Hardpoint: Ion Cannon Battery

That was my intended build 2 months ago <_< :P

I like it, but I wonder if Ion Torpedoes might be better than the Ion Cannon Battery? Probably not, but with Jonus it might be worth a try. Trouble is, you forgo the Reinforce/Recover from Automated Protocols. But if it's a suicide ship anyway, then why not?

They should do them in Aurebesh.

Oh but they do .

Congrats to another user of epic class ramming vessels! I do a rather similar strategy with my rebel transport, sans the guns, It's always a delight to smash straight into the enemy formations with as much speed as possible, and throw their game completely off. I have more kills with the GR75 at this point than I do with the CR90.

Vector is a bit of a waste - especially with Engine Booster and RAC

It's really difficult to deploy all 4 docked TIES in a single move without them bumping into each other - but as the deployment rules say you can deploy up to 2 after you execute a maneuver - and engine booster and RAC are both maneuvers, you can deploy all 4 in a single turn without needing Vector anyway.

My preferred Title if you're using the Goz as a carrier is Requiem - but Supressor has more long-term value

a better deployment related ability would have been to allow the maneuver template you use for deployment to be placed anywhere along the front edge of the ship base - but they never went for that for some reason

This amused me to no end, good work, haha!

Who would have thought those carriers were made for running things over...ah this is grand. Here, I liked this so much that I have decided to create you a tribute.

That's awesome, but I am afraid you missed a small detail: http://dwigif.com/view/TJxFy0T :3

Yes but you will notice my original post is much older than that. ^_^

My opponent tried this against me in Epic, and my Tie/D's killed it before it got to deploy fighters.

You do realize that even killing the Gozanti doesn't stop them stop them from deploying, right? They all just take a damage and deploy on the spot.

wow this thing moves fast with this build. Good on energy? Set a 4fwd, do a 1str first before reveal. Thats 5. Action for 1 more. This thing just moved faster than **** near any ship can...even regular ships. Oh that is bound to catch things off guard :D

Ohhh, it absolutely does.

Well, the ship is more fun as described above- but if you want to absolutely troll people, throw absolutely everything on this thing that causes stress and slicer tools. Think rebel captive, shield projector, title for more energy and Broadcast Array.

Kill one A-Wing or TiE Phantom per turn by essentially turning their internet off.

Well done @DampfGecko , normally I don't condone necros-outta-nowhere, but this one was worth it for the Gozanti slideshow
