Tie/fo Pilots

By Sir Orrin, in X-Wing

Hey Forum users!

For my Next tournament, I really want to run Whipser and my 3 Tie/fos, just wondering which Tie/fo pilots you guys thought were the best.

I'm running Whisper with Veteran instincts, Gunner, Advanced Cloaking Device, and Advanced sensors (or Fire control system, but Im leaning towards Advanced sensors) that leaves 56-57 points left for 3 Tie/fos. I ran epsilon leader, epsilon ace, and an omega squadron pilot, which put me a 99 points, which I thought was ok, but do you think I should rework the list and use better Tie/fo Pilots?

Epsilon ace and decoy on whisper

With my luck, Epsilon Ace would take 2 dmg in the first 2 rounds.

I'm a big fan of Zeta leader w/ Wired. Nice cheap mini ace. If you have extra points you can even put comms relay on him to improve your alpha strike survivability

Hmm... 3 Omega Squadrons with Crack Shot seems like your best bet. Or you could drop Gunner for a cheaper crew choice and do Zeta Leader with the EPT of your choice and 2 crack shot Omegas.

Zeta Leader all the way. Epsilon Leader is also awesome in a squad.

I'm starting to really like Zeta leader.

Omega leader with Juke and Comm.

Epsilon squad x2

Omega Leader with Juke and Comm Relay is a lean, terrifying force that can almost totally shut down an enemy ace. Once you get that Target Lock up and running, they're almost helpless. Only Palpatine and good dice rolling can counter him.

Considering the amount of stress in the game right now, Epsilon Leader might also be good. At the very least, he opens Whisper up to do K-turns. However, he's not going to be providing much offensive output.

The combination of Epsilon Leader and Juking Omega Leader with Comms Relays and Hull Upgrades comes out to 99 points. The downside to this list is relative frailty, with only 14 HP. Your offense will also take a serious hit if Whisper goes down.

Otherwise, three Omega Squadron pilots with Crack Shot are also pretty strong.

I would go for an FO mini swarm as I don't think going for synergy between whisper/ties is a great idea. Let them operate separately. Personally I'd be tempted to run a couple of the ace ties with some mods rather than regular joes.

that was what I was going for.

If it comes down to you to pick some Omega Squadron Pilots, consider upgrading one to Zeta Ace. At 1 pt more, he can do the glorious 2 straight barrel roll that will catch even aces by surprise. Otherwise, Omega Leader and Zeta Leader + another FO pilot of your choice should be a strong contender against any lists.

Zeta Leader + Wired + Weapon Guidance = 23pts. Lots of three hit rolls

Pair with two Zetas?

You can pretty much never go wrong with lock down and high roller. I really like high roller with vi with whisper, just for the off chance that your opponent has rebel captive. You can have high roller absorb that stress for whisper and clear it with the great dial.

Please don't change the names, it's already confusing as is for new players. I know that the podcast team was trying to have fun with it, but we really don't need Autobot designations for FO pilots.

Omega leader with Juke and Comm.

Epsilon squad x2

This all over.

Or Soontir fits into that list; OL Soontir and Whisper is a great list, from experience.

With my luck, Epsilon Ace would take 2 dmg in the first 2 rounds.

That's two rounds whisper is not hit. It also opens up whisper for an EPT instead of VI.

It is, but it's very fragile. One bad roll and the game starts going uphill. On the upside, any two (or even one) of these can work independently.

Oh yeah, it lives and dies on green dice, but fortunately two out of three of the elements have very good ability to mod or pseudo-mod green dice (one by actually modding the other by minimally modding but shutting down enemy mods instead). Whisper's not so good and I found that I would frequently lose her to higher-PS pilots or just blanking the green dice, so I replaced her with VI Vader, and gave OL a stealth device. Not tournament-tested yet but practice runs have been encouraging.

I'm just fortunately that my local meta hasn't got much in the way of TLTs...

Im really liking Omeaga Leader with Comm Relay and Juke, but That dosen't leave much room for anything else with 29 pts. I also really like Zeta leader with Wired. Im considering Zeta leader, wired, and 2 Zeta squadron pilots.

Yes, and that EPT is Decoy.

I was going to mention that, but I figured he would figure it our for himself.

Yep......

Don't like the Lack of Crew on Whisper though...
