Need a bit more help (sirry for any grammer mistakes)

By LolKnight, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Ok so I figure out what the backstory of my Force sensitive Tusken raider should be and how he discover that he is force sensitive (I think) now I need help on how he figure ot how to speak basic and how he gets off planet

There is always the option that he fled as a child and didn't take any of his clothing etc... that would mark him a Tusken. He got picked up by some good hearted moisture farmer and raised him as his own child. That will explain why he can speak basic. As an adult, his adoptive father lets him leave to explore the galaxy on his own.

Hmm sounds good...but I made his backround that he is the soul survivor of his tribe that was brutally slaughter by Anakin skywalker..

It would still fit with what I wrote. ;)

Hmm...k....but how would he get off planet again?

Well since he is now dressed like a near human, he wouldn't have a problem. He has none of the Tusken gear since he left that as a child, so the only possessions he has are from the moisture farmer.

I would say that use Kumumgah as a base for his looks. You see them here.

Hmm idk...maybe I might using something else but thanks for help! I appreciated it :D

Even a xenophobic tribal society like the Sand People need to trade, and Jawas don't have everything, no matter what they tell you. Ammo for those long rifles, moisture condenser parts, replacement filter masks, you name it... and someone with the right spiritual background and strength of character needs to be the one who risks spiritual pollution to go and trade with the infidel...

and that's your guy.

He's the Tribe Shaman's apprentice, who actually goes to a handful of trading posts near Anchorhead/Tachi Station/Mos Eisley, trades with the locals, and brings back the goods that the tribe needs.

This requires ritual cleansing afterwards, which is done alone... which explains the following:

why he wasn't there when everyone was slaughtered

why we understands/speaks other languages

why he might have less xenophobic ideas about other races

why he might have resources to get him off planet

the fact that he's force sensitive

the fact that he knows about Jedi, light sabers, etc...

Hell, I might even stat this guy up for one of my games...

Awesome idea but...wouldn't people try to shoot him at said trade points? since he is a Tusken raider

What if they look relatively harmless, or at least a lot less harmful, when they take the masks off?

Clothes-wise, they’re not that far from Jedi robes, or the kind of clothes that Luke wore, right?

So, when Spider-Man takes off the mask, he doesn’t necessarily seem so impressive, right?

I don't know, man... I think you're overthinking it a bit. This is backstory, after all.

Maybe the traders have a long history of trading with the Tusken. They've been around a long time, after all.

Maybe he has to wear distinctive all black robes (which also makes him look cool - bonus!) so that everyone knows he's marked.

Besides, there's so many different races around a space port. Put anyone in dusty robes and a full face cover and a breath filter, and they kinda look like a Tusken. Nobody is going to shoot him there without a good reason...

Good point...alright I'll go with that :D thanks!

check out the guys that Rey fights with over BB8... either of them could be mixed up for a tusken in different colored robes... or vice versa. It's a big 'verse, after all.

Perhaps your character was at the wrong place a the wrong time and was picked up by Force-hunting Imperials. For instance, after a bunch of lightsaber activity at a cantina on Tatooine, an Imperial Inquisition squad is dispatched to investigate a credible rumor that Obi-wan Kenobi had been spotted. While on his trail, their chance encounter with your hunting pack left several imperials dead before the Inquisitor dispatched the threat - all but you.

Maybe you spent the next several years in indentured servitude to the Empire, in with the rest of the rabble. You could have picked up Basic slowly, and maybe you came to understand that there were differences in the aliens but there was really only one parasite that plagued the galaxy, and that was humans. Just as luck had gotten you into this mess, luck could be what gets you out: you and several others took advantage of drunken holiday revelry to make an escape, and you've been on the run in a strange galaxy ever since.

While "continuing your training in the force" the inquisitor 'informed you of the truth" behind the Jedi and their ruthless ways. Your tribe was only one of many cut down by the sabers of the so called "gaurdians of the galaxy".

She ultimately released you to seek your vengeance against the Jedi named Anakin, and you have been working as a Bounty Hunter ever since... scouring the galaxy for scraps of news, even managing to kill a few escaped Padawan, as you prepare yourself for your ultimate quarry...

I like it.

If you make a Knight Level character, you could even narrate your lightsaber (whether he uses it or not) as a trophy from a young Jedi you killed... I see him collecting them as he gains enough experience...

Seriously, I'm making this guy for my own table if we ever start up a new Star Wars game...

I had this set in the first act of A New Hope but you've pointed out that this works for events in Attack of the Clones!

OK - so the timing on that got a little wonky... but who knows what strings the Emperor was pulling, or what kind of agents he had working for him besides Darth Maul.

Hell, maybe it was Darth Maul who trained him... although training up a 'weapon' just to send it out into the galaxy to hunt down Jedi seems a bit... subtle for someone like him. I like the idea of a more mysterious (and otherwise unknown) manipulator behind the scenes.

and with a little tweaking, it could work in almost any time frame... although I'd like to start it right after Anakin slaughtered the Sand People... where he comes into the story almost depends on how experienced he is.
