Etahn list for store champs

By Wiredin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

After a winter of flying casual and not really focusing on one list I have flown the following a bit and really enjoyed it and have been playing it a bit more. It's nothing new, but I like it.

Etahn A'baht (32)
Biggs Darklighter (25)
R2 Astromech (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Rookie Pilot (21)
Rookie Pilot (21)
Total: 100
But I'm not sure how to make it better. Biggs is tanky and with Etahn's passive it does hit pretty hard. It's fairly easy to fly too, but with the lack of upgrades once Bigg's goes down it really goes down fast. I originally gave Etahn VI, but found giving Biggs' an extra bit of life with integrated astro was more beneficial.
however... I'm not starting to rethink things. I've become very accustomed with the E-Wing and have found it to be my favorite ship. My last tournament play I flew Corran, but didn't give him good enough support and being the center piece, they die quickly.
With that in mind... I came up with a few other ideas:
idea A:
Etahn A'baht (32)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
R7 Astromech (2)
Hull Upgrade (3)
Wedge Antilles (29)
Predator (3)
R2-D2 (4)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Total: 100
Mr. Fel shows up often enough that I would love to use Wedge to knock him down a bit. I thought about Blount as a Fel counter, and I'll post that list in a sec, but I figured an extra gun would be more beneficial than 3 "aces". There seems to be a lot of agility builds in my meta, so this maybe a better play even though I'm loosing 2 red dice.
B:
Etahn A'baht (32)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
R7 Astromech (2)
Hull Upgrade (3)
Wedge Antilles (29)
Predator (3)
R2-D2 (4)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Lieutenant Blount (17)
Crack Shot (1)
Homing Missiles (5)
Munitions Failsafe (1)
Total: 100
So Blount takes care of Fel's stealth device and the homing missiles with crackshot should finish him off (fingers crossed). The nice thing is, those homing missiles are good against everyone for a nice punch. Wedge and Etahn stay pretty close to the same upgrade as before.
finally... C:
Etahn A'baht (32)
Predator (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
R7 Astromech (2)
Hull Upgrade (3)
Knave Squadron Pilot (27)
Fire-Control System (2)
R7 Astromech (2)
Hull Upgrade (3)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)
Total: 100
a dreaded 2 E wing list... the glass cannons of all glass cannons? Overpriced? the R7/FCS should prove to be tanky, once again adding hull upgrades. Predator on Etahn for a bit more smacking power.
Are any of these better than my first list, that I already fly decently? I got about a week before my store championship. I don't expect to get top marks flying any of these, but I do expect to have fun!! :)

I'd say if your meta is agility heavy, you need a stresshog in your list instead of Bandit Squadron Pilots as double stressing a fel / Poe / or any other ace is quite funny to do and lowers their manoeuvrability and actions for a couple of turns allowing the E wing to swoop in and hopefully finish it

I really like the first list, although I would exchange the R2 astromech for R4-D6.

Thanks. I tried the first list a bit more at a casual game yesterday swapping out the R4-D6, and then taking out the droid and putting crackshot on Etahn.

Then I tried something a little different from that.

Etahn A'baht (32)
Push the Limit (3)
Advanced Sensors (3)
R5-P9 (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Wedge Antilles (29)
Predator (3)
R2-D2 (4)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Prototype Pilot (17)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Total: 100
Etahn and Wedge work very well together I find, and the double regen really helps keep them both alive. I thought about reducing the engine upgrades on both back down to hull upgrades, or swapping out the PTL on the Ewing for my next match so I can change out the A wing for Lt. Blount. There's a whole wack load of stealth device being played locally. That would look something like this:

Etahn A'baht (32)
Push the Limit (3)
Advanced Sensors (3)
R5-P9 (3)
Hull Upgrade (3)
Wedge Antilles (29)
Crack Shot (1)
R2-D2 (4)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Lieutenant Blount (17)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Total: 100
The idea here is Blount cancels out Stealth device, then becomes a blocker. Wedge goes in and boosts to kill. Save the crackshot for late game. Etahn does what he does, turtling most rounds trying to stay at range 3 so he can still hand over the crit to Wedge.
I'm going to try a stress-hog variant in the near future as well.

Blount is unlikely to get Fel in arc (same for the stresshog, though). However, if you are going to try blount, use this:

deadeye + ion pulse missiles.

Its the cheapest way to kill Fel or any other high PS ace. You don't need a target lock to fire the missile. Thanks to Blount's ability, it automatically inflicts the ion tokens (and breaks any stealth device). Its very easy to kill an ioned ship with pretty much anything...

I like the second list. The only change I would make is to take Munitions Failsafe off Blount and give him the ion pulse missile. Then you have three more points to help elsewhere, like an EPT on Wedge, or take initiative.

Thanks for the options and feedback guys. I've flown Etahn pretty hard in a few different lineups lately and really find that the R7/FCS is just not as effective as spending those points on PTL and R5P9. Also without EU and Etahn's average pilot skill I was having a lot of problems keeping aces within arc.

So my next adaptation is:

Etahn - PTL/Adv Sensors/R5P9/EU

Wedge - Predator/R2D2/EU

Prototype Pilot - Chardann

I'm still worried about Etahn's pilot skill and the downgrade from an X to an A. but the EU is a must have and would have saved my butt many times with Wedge by last few games. The regen is also invaluable.

I could also do a similar builds with standard EU/PTL/FCS/R5P9 and Wedge with the same Pred/R2D2/EU and a Tala Squad pilot for filler. Better pilot skills to help with aces and hits just as hard if not harder.

I love E's and X's. :) Corran and Etahn are a ton of fun, as are Poe and Wedge. I find it arguable on who's better between Poe and Wedge. I think Poe is a much better use of points, but Wedge with EU and his ability has been my best counter to Fel lately.

I've also been inspired by a 3 T70 idea....

Poe - Vi/R5P9/AT

Red Sq Vet - Pred/R2/IA

Red Sq Vet - Pred/R2D2/Ia

OR

3 Red Sq Vets with Pred/Weapons Guidance. 2 of them with IA and R2D2/R5P9. Very worried about Fel shredding it apart, but that Alpha strike.... :D
