Crippling blow

By ninjahX, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

My question is simple

Does the career specialization class Aggressor's crippling blow ability stack?

ie I hit them once they suffer a strain when they move if I hit them again do they now suffer 2 strain to move?

It may be blatantly obvious, but I just wanna make sure Thanks :)

Personally I would say RAW is it stacks (I believe unless it states otherwise there is precedence for such things being used repeatedly).

RAI, it doesn't. That gets gimpy (pun intended) real fast.

Arrgh, discussed this with my spouse and now I'm doubting my original thoughts. Multiple applications might not be THAT overpowered. He pointed out that by the time the level of strain got ridiculous, they would almost certainly be killed by your attacks.

Other folks should weigh in on this.. I might have to submit a query to the devs, this is one of those that's gonna drive me batty.

Unless ofc those attacks were barely cracking his soak

anyways I'd say it's really only useful against nemesis and maybe rivals against minions its almost negligible and besides you need every adv you can get over a nemesis, especially an inquisitor

And as per say my original question I assume with two-weapon fighting it's still only applied once unless this has been answered already in the two weapon fighting thread

I would think the RAI is it can't stack. The description of the talent says "suffers 1 strain whenever" it doesn't say "suffers 1 additional strain whenever"

But personally I think it would be okay for it to stack, like the others have noted the target will probably go down before more than 2 or 3 applications.

We have played it as stacking, the name is "Crippling Wound". To me it implies the individual wound taken is severe, and thus further "crippling" style wounds would complicate the matter.

Had one Aggressor player use it and was nice against big bads.

But, I love it on my NPCs. Precision killers or monstrous beasts tends to get it. Makes the player really wary of just face tanking an encounter. And makes support players shine when they help the fighters get back into the fight.

<edit> sorry it is Crippling Blow, not Crippling Wound. But the general thought still applies.

Sounds like a question for the devs.

Woohoo! Got a response back.

"Yes, inflicting a crippling blow on a target multiple times would cause it to suffer multiple strain each turn.

Hope that helps!

Thank you Mr. Stewart, one less rule to keep me up at night.

That's how I would run it personally, but it's nice to have confirmation.

I mean really, if you think about it, it makes sense. I hit you upside the head with a truncheon, you are now suffering -1 strain from the crippling blow. Does it make any sense at all, that if I hit you upside the head again , it somehow wouldn't increase the severity of the injury? :D

Besides, there is precedence from other attacks that do similar effects, stacking.
