Endless bumping?

By Ccwebb, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Han Solo vs Capt. Oicunn

Solo moved 1 forward and bumped Oicunn. Next round both Oicunn and Solo move 1 forward. Because of the positioning, they just sit there.

1) Does Oicunn's ability get activated?

2) Can this stalemate, neither ship moving, become a loop?

I can provide a picture if need be.

Yep and yep. Unless they're traveling the same direction.

They'd have to be going the same way and lined up evenly. Any angle and it's an overlap.

Oicunn bumps Solo, doing one damage, then Solo bumps Oicunn.

If Solo has R2-D2 on board, this will go on forever.

Otherwise the loop will end after (at most) 13 iterations.

What a great way to play...

Wake me up when the game's over.

No kidding!

Thank you all... When I return to the game Han is going to move forward A LOT to get away from this loop. Ouch.

It's a game of chicken. I've been in this spot before. In one game the player only had one move to stay on the board and the other player, if he didnt want to, could have kept himself in place every turn. Game goes to time with a win for the player unwilling to end the stalemate.

In this case, it is up to the Falcon player to break the loop. It is in the best interest for the Decimator to keep it going (autodamage after all).

Anything father than 2 forward will clear Oicunn, so a continuous loop is clearly a concession on Han's part.

Oicunn with the Emperor and Ion Projectors (and without Initiative) can trap a small-based ship into an endless death-loop, however. It's a fun combo, honestly.

Zeb crew, there may be shots fired. I'm planning on running Chopper with Zeb crew and maybe another modification like anti-pursuit lasers or that ion thing.

Not fun for the other guy!
