Fairly sure gunner says you can't make any more attacks that turn.

Put Gunner on Dengar.

Why would you tell people this? Learning from mistakes is the best way.

Just don't trigger it if they evade the first attack, wait til after the second.

No, do it, give in to your anger.

Unless they faq'd it gunner isn't optional.

It has to be timed right, which reduces its utility a tad, but getting an extra shot after your second attack (be it returning fire against a low PS pilot, or your normal attack after you shot a cheeky PS10+/PS 9 with innitiative) is still decent.

On the other hand, with all the fantastic crew Scum has, that reduced utility probably knocks gunner out of the running.

Oh, they errata'd it alright:

After you perform an attack that does not hit, you may immediately perform a primary weapon attack. You cannot perform another attack this round.

Another consideration here is that sometimes Dengar will not have a target in arc, in which case Gunner is not useless...

Yep.

Also, I used it to good effect to make my opponent attack Dengar at R1 instead of my wounded Guri...

Am I missing something? It really doesn't matter whether you have gunner on Dengar or not. If you completely miss your first attack, you're down to one attack left, whether you take it right away (gunner), or wait for later to be attacked by another ship so you can return fire (Dengar's ability).

If you put gunner on Dengar you can get three attacks:

Return fire

Regular attack

Gunner attack

The trick is to know when best to use gunner.

What if you are attacked by someone in arc but you really want to attack someone out of arc to finish them off? Gunner would allow that.

Well this is the card however there is an "errata" which is different than an FAQ you can find on page 2 of the current FAQ. Errata are "pen & ink" changes to change by adding removing or replacing words to the card. The errata for gunner (and Luke Skywalker<crew>) says,

The first sentence on both of
these cards should read:
“After you perform an attack that does not hit, you may immediately perform a primary weapon attack.”
So in regards to gunner or Luke Skywalker<crew> you could chose not to activate the card after the trigger.
Now for Dengar because he is Pilot Skill 9 his ability allows to make attacks after defending from an attacker in his firing arc which would likely be after Dengar already made his attack. So if Gunner was activated after triggered during Dengar's attack the last sentence of the Gunner would overrule Dengar's pilot ability so once gunner is used that ship is done firing until next round. So once you make a gunner attack that ship is done attacking for the rest of the round.
Now there are other questions like if you missed an ability triggered attack and trigger gunner could you use Gunner to attack another ship outside of arc? While Dengar has his trigger ability restrictions Gunner doesn't have the same restrictions.

So yes, you could attack a different target. Gunner doesn't care where the first attack was aimed or how the shooting started.

In fact, you can use Gunner to target a ship that is outside of your firing arc if you miss with your return fire ability. Shoot Soontir, miss, get annoyed. Soontir attacks, and you shoot Soontir again, Miss again, and get REALLY annoyed. Then you activate Gunner to shoot the Decimator on your flank and deal 3 damage! :-D

...When did this erratta happen? That's kind of important.

Two and a half technically.

You're 28 days off of two-and-a-half (with a margin of error of less than 24 hrs), if you really want to be technical.

A long time, is what I was saying. :D.

Yes, or at least one quite nearby.

So Gunner means you'll get two shots at hitting your opponent. If they're in arc and likely to shoot you, you can get two attacks - and a third if one whiffs.

That is honestly a pretty good deal, especially if you're trying to kit Dengar out for ace-hunting...

Long story short, Gunner *can* be used on Dengar, but is probably not the ideal choice. I am increasingly of the opinion that either GONK or 4LOM are good choices for Denny.
