Armada Team Tournament - Vassal

By BiggsIRL, in Star Wars: Armada

Thanks Dourprize for the game I had a ton of fun and GOOD LUCK in your next round! :)

Miferrr (Vanguard) vs Matt-Shadowlord (Full Jar Jar) is complete.

It was a tough game, but as well as being a challenging opponent, Miferr is a really fun to play.

Precision Strike

Matt-Shadowlord scored:

51 Corvette TRC+ 69 Yavaris Ray + 13 xwing + 14 bwing + 90 tokens = 237

Miferr:

51 Corvette TRC + 16 Tycho + 13 YT-1300 + 32 YT2400s + 30 tokens =142

Mov 95

7-3 to FULL JAR JAR

Very well played by Miferr, particularly the squadron phases.

Isn't Mov 95 a 7-3?

Isn't Mov 95 a 7-3?

Yep. 7-3 is between 70-129 so that isn't an 8-2 victory after all.

OK thanks, I will update the post. Apparently my PDF is out of date.

It was another marathon game that went the distance, and stayed intense the whole time. I was very impressed by Matt's skill in flying those AFs. Try as I might I could never get them in Independence's side arcs...but I was always in his arcs! He won initiative on a flip, and he really used it to his advantage. It seemed like every turn one of his ships was in the danger zone, but he could just laugh it off and move out of the way. I could just never get ahead of him. Lately our group has been hating AFs, but this game showed me what they can do.

I am happy with how the squadron game went, but I really needed to be attacking ships, not squads! The opportunities just weren't there and I decided to focus on getting squad points, but that wasn't enough.

Great game and I look forward to playing Matt again!

Mad and I got a couple of turns done in our game last name night. We will resume on Thursday night, hopefully at 8pm PST/11pm EST. So far he has the upper hand. Let's see if I can salvage something from this. It's been pretty fun so far!

... my gluttony for punishment is going to have to be put on hold - I just don't have time this week to do a match-up of the week.

Sorry guys.

If anyone else wants to step up and do something, they have always been more than welcome.

Sadly I don't have any idea how to stream.

Biggsy, you put more time and effort into these things than most of the rest of the Forums Combined...

You should be setting aside more time for a Beer before any more punishment.

Mostly because I am entirely unable to do any of the other ones due to time constraints...

**Ardaedhel vs Onca - Wednesday 23rd @ 1900 CDT / Thursday 24th @ 0000 GMT** - Match-up of the Week!

Match soon!

Ard vs Onca: 231-182, 49-point MoV, 6-4 in Ard's favor.

I'm tired and going to bed, so no detailed writeup, but do want to say it was an amazingly tough match, and Onca was a great opponent and a great sport. Especially during the two turns where he had 1 ship activation to my 4, most of which he spent watching me push ships around... :)

This was the last match between the Hammers and Det 1. If I'm not mistaken, they came out slightly ahead, by a point or so? I'll try to check back in in the morning.

Onca Vs Ardhaedhel

Ardh went first with Advanced Gunnery as the objective

Ardh won 231-182

MoV 49 points

Tourney points 6-4 to Ardh

=====================

Was a fun game, definitely one of the more interesting ones to play. I think I did well with my activations, a lot of his CR90s didnt get any ship-ship damage. But they did a lot of work on my squads.

Pics of ends of turns (excluding turn 1). You can kinda see the *********** at the start. Don't ask my why the sizes are different. its 3 am and I'm too tired to fix it

Love how close some of these team match-ups have turned out. :D

Reath28 vs Viperous should be starting in about 20mins

Reath28 vs Viperous should be starting in about 20mins

Ok

Reath28 9-1 Viperous (400-126 mov). The Ashes has been rewon! ().

This was always gonna be a tough matchup for me and I did feel slightly ill at ease by the sight of so many squads.

Anyways, Reath chose Hyperspace Assault from my objectives. I reserved Insight but no squads.

My deployment wasn't so good but I managed to recover slightly by dropping Hindsight back. Reath's devastating squad fire came into play and all (3) of my squads were quickly destroyed.

I then deployed Insight with a double arc to the ISD rear with Foresight in front at range, also with a double arc. Then disaster struck. Reath's ISD rolled a massive attack, one shotting an almost unharmed foresight and then moving out of Insight's close range and Foresight's double arc. I then decided to turn my attention to the VSD as it was speed 0. I eventually killed it off at round 4 but Reath's bombers had crippled Shortsight, which was cut up by the next ISD volley, but it unloaded 8 damage before dying.

The game spiraled downhill for me from then on although the ISD limped away with 3 hull.

It was closer than it looks, but Reath is a great player! Well done Church of Rocco! Good luck for the rest of the tournament!

edit. I thought I might have missed a few more points, but no. Thats us for the bye then :(

The amazing thing about the game is how important one choice can be. Foresight chose to redirect a bomber attack before facing the imminent ISD front blast. (Vip forgot it was avenger). ISD accuracied the other redirect, preventing foresight from using her title power and using all those shields as sponges. If she had she would have surived the round and done the vital damage Vip needed against the ISD, which finished the game on 3hull.

One choice the difference between a 9-1 defeat and a draw/victory. Its amazing.

And it was right at the start of the game as well. I always said Avenger was an alright title eh MattShadowlord? :D (Matt tested Reath's fleet against me and he remarked that Avenger was a bad title to use in any fleet).

That was the biggest mistake I made in the game, and these mistakes add up to eventually leave you with nothing (or almst nothing).

Edit. And not being first player is seriously annyoing with my list. You line up a perfect double arc at close range and then... the freakin' ship moves out of range!

Viper was a great opponent. I really enjoyed playing him. Best of luck go Alderran Choices for the rest of the tournament.

And with Maturin / Madaghmire finishing tonight, we should be moving on to Round 3.

Mad v Mat ends 379-0 MoV, 10-0 in favor of myself.

Hats off to Maturin, who was a joy to play with and played a far better game than that score suggests.

That's the problem with these darn glass cannon lists...when they shatter, they shatter into millions of tiny eentsy weentsy pieces...

Mad outmaneuvered me this game, and he won a very deserving victory. A pleasure, sir!

Jarenis vs Quadro

Quadro won the roll for first player, Objective picked was most wanted

473 to 148. 9-1 win to Jarenis. Some exceptionally poor rolls early on compounded with Mon Mothma meant that I snow balled early to take out Reiken on the 3rd turn and then win on the 4th by destroying his other Whale and Yavaris. All round great game! Good luck Quad on the rest of the tourny.

End result is a 9-1 to Jarenis and the Church of Rocco

Biggs, looks like this wasn't recorded correctly, looking at the score sheet/2nd post.
