Armada Team Tournament - Vassal

By BiggsIRL, in Star Wars: Armada

Server was down for a spell, but is back up now.

Hmmm... We were having pretty bad latency in Cutter9999 vs Miferr last night. Sounds like they might be having issues with the backend. :/

Always rough having those issues with the back end. Really want things to go nice and smooth there. Niiiiiiice and smooth.

Can someone from Objectionable Content check MoffZen's pulse? He hasn't read my PM as of yet.

He mentioned some work-related issues, but I did communicate with him on Wednesday right before sending my selection to you.

Ianediger vs Viperous

7-3 108 Mov in favour of Viperous.

Ended during turn 6 due to time constraints. Maybe Ian would have killed the Nebulon, Vip would probably have killed Bossk, so score would have been fairly similar to that recorded anyway.

Ian deployed his fleet in the hope of protecting as many points as possible, with the ISD shielded by Minefields all in one corner. On the other side

the Foresight, the Insight and the Hindsight deployed facing off against the Demolisher and an Isard VSD.

The Shortsight was deployed to keep an eye on the Isd.

It wasn't long before the Foresight came into play, shooting the VSD at long range after it had activated before zooming round behind to fire again at close range,

ultimately ending the VSDs stay at the start of round 4.

The Demolisher though, quickly shot straight past the bewildered Insight at speed 4 (with ET), only taking 2 damage in the process. The Insight turned to pursue but couldn't catch it. Meanwhile Boba fell to Han but the ISD turned onto full speed from a standing start in two turns,

catching the Shortsight off guard (maybe it couldn't see it coming, should have chosen Foresight for that job).

I couldn't accelerate quick enough and when we had to finish at start of round 6 with the Shortsight with its fate probably sealed, the Foresight and the Hindsight closing in on the ISD's rear.

A fun game, full of maneuvering.

Alderaan Choices are up and running!

Match-up of the Week will be starting in less than an hour. Watch it on vassal, or listen to the livestream at http://www.twitch.tv/biggsirl

I will say Vip, I put the ISD there to try to tempt you into running your ships through the minefield. It ended up backfiring on me, though.

Holy crap. Was a great game, even though I suffered from analysis paralysis for the vast majority of it. As soon as I lost that first corvette earlier than I expected, my plan all went to pot.

Great game by Ninja, think it ended at 430-272 in his favor, making it an 8-2.

It was an absolute pleasure facing Ardaedhel. He is a true sportsman. It was stressful as hell but really fun and exciting.

Conscientious Objector and I have tentatively scheduled our game for Saturday night, 8pm PST/ 10pm CST.

game rescheduled to Sunday afternoon/evening at my request.

Somewhere around the 4.5 hrs mark I got Biggs to tell us a story.... it was about Apple Butter....

^This. Is actually a problem with Armada games on vassal - even with my added automation...it often taken too long. It should be possible to keep a higher pace. Otherwise I think people will be a bit discouraged.

guys is it too late to join in on this? (teamless)

:)

Seriously though we were having a great time playing and I never felt like either one of us was dragging anything down. We did have a lot of issues with the interface (at least I did). The strange duplicating maneuver tool thing really sucked. And strange stuff would happen like one time the ENTIRE board just disappeared. And then there was that time JJ tried to throw the match by flicking a CR90 forward... :) It wasn't as laggy as it was during Cutter v Miferr's game but it still was and that would cause stuff to be moved in error. It was really strange and I felt like a vassal noob trying to get the LOS to work. I'm not sure if it was the Beta or the connection lag that caused it.

Btw I AM NOT complaining about Vassal because I really adore the damned thing I'm just making excuses for our marathon.

If I could friggin remember what CW and CCW were it'd shave at least 1/2 hour to any of my games. :)

Wow close games...

Good job team! I guess if your going to lose you may as well lose by less then 60 points :)

I also must say I am most disappointed that there was no preview before our team played Biggs... Do not fail me again.

:P

Remember the literal dream job test I was talking about?

That is today. Part 2 starts in less than an hour.

Sorry for not having all 11 team analyses up.

I knew I should've gone harder on the initiative bid! :P
