Non-universe characters reimagined as pilots or crew

By Dagonet, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Fiction is full of characters that would make great additions to this game. It will never happen of course, but it's a nice waste of time on an idle saturday evening at work.

I'm not sure I'd stick them all in a separate faction, or in all factions, or in any one of the current factions, so I'll leave that (and points, because I suck at properly valuing abilities) open.

Paul Atreides

The main character from Dune, able to predict the future, with such precision that in Dune: Messiah he doesn't even need his eyes anymore.

Ship: M3-A Interceptor (how can we not put Muad'DIb in a ship named for a desert creature?)

PS: 7

Ability: You perform your Skip Action Step at the end of the activation phase.

EPT slot available: yes

In order to reflect his ability to see the future, we let him perform his actions after everybody else. He still has to commit to a maneuvre, but will be able to adjust.

Rand Al'thor

Main character from Wheel of Time, the strongest ta'veren (person around whom the pattern of destiny is bent).

Ship: TIE Defender (he is a bit of a brute and quite often uncontrolled)

PS: 8

Ability: Once per round, you may choose one action during the perform action step of an enemy ship at range 1.

EPT slot available: yes

The pattern shapes itself around him...

These are just two I thought up, I'll think of others, anybody any suggestions?

Ok I get Paul (Especially since my dad once described "Dune" to me as the sequal to SW... I was very young back then.)

But Rand is a bit of stretch no? Oh wait never mind, just remembered there are hints of a advanced civilisation in TWoT.

How about Mathrim Cauthon? How would you stat his luck? Reroll your dice? Change the result of one of your dice to the result of your choise?

Ok here are some suggestions, but you (or somebody else ) will have to stat them 'cuz i've only played this game like twice...

Starbuck & Apollo (Battlestar Galactica)

Tom Paris (Star trek voyager) he's the only thing even close to a fighter pilot in that series so...

Starscream* (Transformers) It would need a new tye of card: a hybrid between ship/ crew maybe? (*or Cyclonus)

Yossarian (Catch 22) Good luck trying to fly that guy!

Hermione Granger (my slashfic err I mean the Harry Potter books) Smart, levelheaded and she has that timetravel thing so you can redo your turn? Ok that's broken... change your dial?

Thomas Covenant (From the Chronicles of thomas covenant the unbeliever) Basically this guy is Rand Althor with leprosy.

You read that right. Leprosy. I sugest he is partially immune to stress, because he has other things to worry about.

My main problem wiht characters from fantasy novels is that they would make bad pilots, even if they have magic powers.

Actually that even goes for some sci-fi characters such as Rico from Starship Troopers!

I was about to sugest Frodo, but that would lead to a debate about wether Vader and Palpatine can see him even if he's wearing the one ring. :D

Frodo

PS7

A-wing

You may receive one stress token to perform the cloak action.

EPT

Sam

PS5

A-wing

During the perform action phase, if there is a ship with a cloak token within range 1-3, you my receive one stress token to give them an evade token when you take your action.

Chuck Yeager. PS 12 at least, he can fly whatever ship he wants.

When boosting he can go 3 straight or bank. And double Actions, like Vader. He can't be second to Vader.

Of course, he can barrel roll in a Deci or K turn a Raider. He is Chuck Yeager !!!

Roy Fokker: PS7: This ship can fire 36 cluster missiles at once.

Nexus 6 android crew.

At the end of turn 4 discard this card.

If an attacking ship within range one is within arc of the ship carrying a nexus 6 android and is destroyed perform a free 'DOVE' action.

Roll an attack die, on a focus result your ship cAnnot be attacked for two turns while it crouches in the rain and weeps.

Expert Politician, PS 6

When you reveal the maneuvering dial, you can say that due to a sudden crisis you must change the dial, to match the situation and save our country.

Ok here are some suggestions, but you (or somebody else ) will have to stat them 'cuz i've only played this game like twice...

Starscream: crew. If your opponent sneezes, you may set one of their dials once per game.

Y-Wing

Master Chief (Halo):

PS 8

Ability: Action, if within range one of another ship, may leave your ship to attempt to take over that targeted ship. Roll an attack die, on a hit, you now control that ship with its abilities and upgrade cards with Master Chiefs PS transferring. Discard this card after performing this action.

Great! Now I wanna stats for all the Gundam Wing dudes.

Char Aznable: PS10, Takes no stress tokens.

George Patton. PS 8. Once per turn you can kick your opponent's axx and force him to reroll all his dices. If you do, then no attack next round.

Once per game you can start smoking a huge cigar, and ignore damage from one attack

Matt Cauthon (Or Odin, with Perrin being Thor) is a lot about luck, but he also has battle knowledge from uncountable wars, good in organizing, so more like an Etahn.

Once per round when an enemy ship in your arc is declared the target of an attack, you may receive a weapons disabled token to reduce its agility to 0.

Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever

Crew

You may modify dice results even if an effect states they cannot be modified.

Roy Fokker: PS7: This ship can fire 36 cluster missiles at once.

Anthony Fokker

At the beginning of the first round, you may lower one of your stats to increase another by the same amount.

He is one of the most influential aircraft designers in history after all.

Apollo (BSG Original)

PS8

E-Wing

After executing a green maneuver, you may choose another friendly ship at range 1. Increase that ship's PS by 1 until the end of the round.

Starbuck (BSG Original)

PS9

E-Wing

33 points

After executing a maneuver, if you are overlapping an obstacle token, suffer 1 damage
