EPIC: 32 points of upgrades on Raider

By Parakitor, in X-Wing Squad Lists

It's no secret that I love TIE interceptors. My go-to Team Epic squad is 8 Push the Limit Saber Squadron Pilots. It's so mean, and it looks gorgeous! Well, I am now gearing up for my first Epic tournament in June, so I'm trying to get more 300 point games in. I still love TIE interceptors, and I want to use all of mine. if I have 8 Saber Sq. Pilots without upgrades, and throw in a Raider, that leaves me 32 points to equip the Raider. How would you equip such a beast? Here's one build that I keep coming back to.

Raider-class Corvette (Fore)

--Automated Protocols (5)

--Engineering Team (4)

Raider-class Corvette (Aft)

--Instigator (4)

--Shield Technician (1)

--WED-15 Repair Droid (2)

--Gunnery Team (4)

--Ion Cannon Battery (6)

--Quad Laser Cannon Battery (6)

It's a defensive build, mainly designed to keep this ship on the table. I would like to have my Raider doing a little bit more damage or disruption, but it will make a bigger target, and won't be able to defend itself. The thing that I like is having 8 TIE interceptors flying cover. What I don't like is that the Raider doesn't have a role in the squad. It just shoots and Recovers. I really don't like Automated Protocalls on the Raider or CR90 because I feel like the whole point of the text on that card is to prevent you from using Reinforce and Recover in the same round, but I'm realizing if it's worded in such a way that this is legal, then it fits this squad really well.

How would you kit out your raider with only 32 points? Would you try to help support the TIE interceptors better? Would you make it more aggressive?

How 'bout some aggression?

Moff Jerjerrod

Grand Moff Tarkin

32 points.

Close in, make 'em pay!

I like that one. I'd probably switch out Jerjerrod for Captain Needs because he allows me to be aggressive with my Raider's arcs without worrying about obstacles. Do you find Jerjerrod to be helpful.

Alternatively Tactician, because why not?
