Question about the Stress Hog

By Hrathen, in X-Wing

So apparently a Y-wing with with an R3-A2, the BTL title is a top tear ship. But I feel like I might be missing something. Every time you give out a stress with R3-A2 you get one yourself. So does the Stress Hog just get a ton of stress and not worry about taking actions ever again after the first round of shooting, or am I missing something.

That's pretty much it. Actions aren't that important to a stresshog. It just flies around givin' out stress until you kill it.

The fact that he can do it out to range 3 is what makes it such an effective ship because r3 is the range where it's hard to avoid.

Your 26 point Y-wing doesn't get actions, but their 30-40 point Ace doesn't either, so you come out ahead most of the time. Alternatively, you can stress two ships in one turn, which can mess up a joust if only half of the formation can k-turn.

The stresshog is also very capable at putting out damage against soft targets like shuttles and decimators, even stressed.

If you're good enough to keep ships in arc, the btl y wing can spit out damage on anything that can't turtle up

The Stresshog, if it's harrying a single ship properly, can consistently lay 1-2 damage per round because the defender has less means of modifying its defense dice too.

It can be a frustratingly slow death for the opponent, but you're paying for a ship with which that is its sole purpose.

Just played with one in my local store championship. It had three great effects, I made Whisper hide on the other side of the board until it died, it drew fire away from Poe and Miranda, it stressed the heck out of stuff, oh and it killed Vader.
