Tanky Dengar is what?
R5-P8?
Lone Wolf?
Gonk?
I really don't know.

While I don't think PTL + unhinged + K4 is a bad way to go (3 actions/turn is never bad), but the green on the dial is a serious limiting factor. Anyone who glosses that over is going to run into trouble quick. Dengar will NOT be able to fly like super dash. It should be interesting though. Using PTL a lot gives arc-dodging potential at PS9, but you'll end up without enemies in arc more often than not, and so can't use his ability as much.
No, he certainly will not fly like Dash. I don't know if he will be all that limited on movement though. You will literally have 9 green maneuvers to choose from with Unhinged, including a right bank. Between setup and positioning you should be able to start off in a fairly favorable position and maintain plenty of options. Now if you are running PTL I believe Unhinged is an absolute requirement. Probably K4 as well. I also don't mind the idea of EU too for maximum repositioning.
The thing with Dengar is that I don't think you are going to want to enter into most fights planning on triggering his ability most rounds. It's a tremendous ability but is best suited for the end game where you minimize the number of shots he is going to take. I think he's going to work best to use for an early strike that potentially triggers his ability before veering off to set up another strafe, while hopefully keeping himself out of arc of attackers and using his turret on targets. He's going to be really good in the end game 1 on 1 vs turrets where he is in a chasing position.
Now if he would just hurry up an arrive I can get to trying him out!
Dash has one green that Dengar doesn't have(1 bank right). The difference though is that Dengar has to play closer, but he's PS9 which is a significant advantage.
I want to put Dengar on Dengar! Dengar crew + Predator means re rolling 3 dice all the time right?
not before you created a time paradox
not before you created a time paradox
This can be done stupidly easy: Just take a Palp-Shuttle and a Tie/fo.
PTL+EU+K4 as an obvious choice
Predator for a stress-filled meta
I honestly see the U-Boat being the stronger way to play this ship, especially three of them.
What build do you mean by U-Boat? Haven't heard that one yet.

U-boat is the torpedo carrying generic build, that fickle first theorized into existence and I named.
I personally wouldn't try torpboating Dengar
sure, it sounds a bit disgusting to torpedo some poor fool twice in a round (possible with deadeye + r4 + recon), but after that Dengar's kinda got nothing left
generics are going to be insane, though, but this thread's about Dengar (Whom I look forward to blowing up with a bunch of scouts
)

Thanks!
Can't quite get my head around the 25th generic with an EPT. Not complaining though!
I really do think Super Dengar w/ PTL, K4, UA, EU, & Title for 56 pts is solid
But there is a "Fat" Dengar build I like as well.
Dengar
Predator/Lone Wolf
Gonk
Unhinged
Experimental Interface
Title
53/54 pts
It has less maneuverability and slightly less offense but gains regen and is only restricted to greens if you are regenerating.
Both of those 2 builds rely on stressing yourself, and I think there is a a good build out there that doesn't do so and strives to maximize his pilot ability. I like r4 agromech and either recspec or outlaw tech and I think predator or Lone wolf works best there as well.

Must admit that's pretty dang aggressive pricing compared to the Wild Space Fringer. -1 HP, +1 PS, +Elite... and -5 pts? Yikes.
predator so you can take zuckuss crew and never take an action again
This all day.

I didn't mean Dengar, I meant the ship as a whole. Why run Dengar, when you can reliably and without overspending the TLs kill any ship on the first turn?
Edited by Admiral DeathrainIMO, PtL Dengar works quite well (orcas worked for me so far).
Vs other fat turrets you keep them in arc and if you're shooting them twice for every shot they get you usually come out on top.
Vs other aces you can, with ps9 and 2-3 points initiative bid move after most usual aces except Vader and Vi Poe, so you can arcdodge them. Don't focus on using Dengar's ability, just shoot them and get no fire in return.
Biggest issue for me so far have been swarms. Dengar with Unhinged isn't really that predictable, but if the opponent has enough ships to block you and still have a few left in position to shoot....you're in big trouble.

This is how an Unhinged, PtL, Eu Jumpmaster moves. Less predictable than it seems IMO
I run Dengar with K4, R4-B11, punishing one and predator
but I'm really tempted to switch out predator for outmaneuver or opportunist
THREADOMANCY!!!! Nice to revisit. I haven't played Dengar nearly as much as I want to.
With the new stuff coming out, I think Fearlessness would be a great one. It can work twice in a turn.
I'm quite tempted to try Stay On Target and Outlaw Tech. I figure he can have a lot of potential speed 2 moves and wants to ensure he's facing the right way.
I played it a few times, but it wasn't against a very mobile opponent and felt a bit wasted. I think it would be quite fun vs. some builds, but not that useful in others.
