Kwenn Station, Fair Enough... But what does the Planet Look like?

By RodianClone, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I will be Using the Kwenn Station in my game pretty soon, maybe even tomorrow. I know enough about the station to run an interaction, but what about the planet it circulates? The book. Lords of Nal Hutta, Isn`t saying anything about the planet and wookipedia doesn`t say much useful either. ... So, what would the characters see from the space station or if they went to the planet? Does anyone have any idea?

100% no ideaaaaaa. I didn't know that Lords of Nal Hutta has information about Kwenn Station. I'm going entirely off the wookiepedia article and I'm planning to draw up some layouts of the tiers of the station.

If there isn't much info, maybe you could make up some stuff. I mean, there's gotta be a reason why everyone meets on the station instead of the planet, yes? Is there no atmosphere? Is it a wasteland? Is the local wildlife extremely hostile?

Lords of Nal Hutta has great stuff and interesting info on the station, but nothing about the planet it circulates. I don`t even think it mentions the planet... I`d like to know, just in case my players ask.

I was going to make it a gas giant for some cool flavor and to justify the need for the station.

It's a planet. Not exactly an orb, but that's the general concept. Kind of rough on the surface, but overall it's a ball. It probably orbits something massive, like a star or an ego. The real interesting part is the space station that orbits it. It's so well known nobody really cares about the planet.

Yes, the Station is what's interesting, but players are bound to be asking about or want ing to know What they can see when they jump to the Station... Might go for gas giant then. Thanks!

I had a brief scene there in a PbP I was in. I'd imagined it as an agricultural world, but very mountainous with not a lot of usable land, so the settlements didn't tend to get very large. Here 's the scene.

I agree that if its the most boring spot in the universe the GM has the responsibility to at least have the basics figured out. There is nothing, in my opinion, as lame as the GM response; "Well its not really integral to the plot to it doesn't matter."

Geeze, come on. There is an entire Universe out there with or without your players. Its exists even if they never go there. Its understandable to spend your time and energy on whats necessary to keep the story going but kind of ridiculous to ignore the obvious simply because its not a major factor in the plotline.

According to the page at http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kwenn , it has appeared in a few books and sourcebooks. I’d check those out to see what they have to say about it.

I’m sure all that is Legends by now, but it might still be useful and interesting to you.

Or not. But you probably won’t know until you check them out.

Funny how people refer to 'legends' like a slur. Without it the entire Star Wars universe would be a handful of movies with very little background detail. (and four of those pretty awful)

Three...

Yes, I should have made it clear I was speaking from myself only. I know opinions vary.

Ill admit a certain disappointment though where Star Wars is concerned. Its one of my all time favorite sci-fi stories and I don't like half of the movies produced. Kind of sad.

There’s a lot of good stuff that is currently “Legends” status, and there’s also a lot of dreckage, bletchery, and sewage.

With regards to “Canon”, there’s also a fair amount of stuff that I consider to be dreck that — unfortunately — is apparently considered to be Canon by The Powers That Be, as Annointed By the All Powerful House of Mouse.

What I consider to be dreckage might not be at all related to what you consider to be bletchery, and vice-versa.

So, what I would encourage you to do is to use the stuff you consider to be good, and leave the stuff you consider to be bad.

Whether it’s officially labeled “Legends” or “Canon”, doesn’t matter.

in Kwenn was first part of an old WEG d6 adventure; don't remember the name, but probably tatooine manhunt or something of sme age

if you go check the topic about old weg modules conversion, you could check if there is something

however, wookieepedia should have all info so if there's nothing here, i can't help you

it could also be alone in the space without any planet, but i think no stormtrooper commando will break into your house if you just invent what you'd like

Lords of Nal Hutta has the "Orbital Metrics" for it, but does not mention what it orbits, sun, planet moon, itself or otherwise. The Wookieepedia entry says it is orbiting a planet with the same name, Kwenn, but has no real info on the planet itself.

Last session, one of my players asked how many moons and suns Klatooine had when they landed on the planet. I looked up the entry in the Lords of Nal Hutta book and it said nothing about it. My players ask about this stuff, but I guess I have to tell them I don`t know, just make it up or tell them to make it up themselves. Are there any exceptions to this lack of planetary info in the FFG books? If not, I guess I`m kind of cool with it and I get it; if there is no canonical answer, gm`s are encouraged to make it up theselves I guess, if it is ever a question.

If you want a semi-canonical answer, there’s always Wookieepedia and the “Star Wars Atlas”.

Outside of that, I see no alternative but to wing it.

Tatooine manhunt. Thinking of buying it. Mention only maybe?

Always thought of the planet as just a gas giant the station orbits that happened to be along a convenient trade route between Hutt Space and the rest of the galaxy.

I don't recall a WEG adventure module that actually visited the planet. Kwenn Station was a popular adventure starting point but little time or word count was spent on describing it.

It would be nice if they at least mentioned what environment it was made of. It would suck if my players decide to go down and check it out or ask, and I just make it up, then later they publish Something different. One player has started asking about the numbers of suns and moons on planets they visit, so wouldn't be surprised... Oh well, it's our version of the Galaxy, right? I mean, there are Lots of different takes on the Batman and the Joker by now, so why not in Star Wars.. Mud planet it is!

Still no intell on this place?...

Here is your information, from the PIOOMA 'Pulling it out of my hindquarters creative department'

The planet Kwenn is an uninteresting Desert/Gas planet (take your pick)

The station is the draw. Not the planet below.

Honestly if there is need for a planet or moon, Just create one for the sake of plot. But if it is not needed, and players are just poking around it is okay to say "maybe, but it is not important to the adventure"

Kwenn Station was the starting spot of one of the adventures in No Disintegrations as well as Tatooine Manhunt, but the planet itself was not mentioned iirc...
